What you said pretty much sums up my feelings regarding my FAR exam also. It as if they KNOW as you go through the test what to start beating you up on! That being said, FAR is my nemesis so I'm not surprised I never feel great about it once its over.

    AUD - 82 Becker
    BEC - 75 Becker
    REG - 71, 82 Becker
    FAR - 66,61,71,74,70 and #6 80!!!! FINALLY DONE!!! 9/20/12
Yaeger and Yaeger CRAM for the final battle!

Does anyone have good notes on journal entries for the key areas in FAR? I am having a really hard time getting my head around journal entries and I only have a few weeks left to the exam. I am taking Becker, but cannot seem to get good practice in this area. Any help would be appreciated.

    Folgers,

Have you considered switching to decaf?

You probably did really well. Remember that the test is computer adaptive and that ‘Hard' testlets are worth more points, and are awarded to those doing well on the exam. It's possible that by the third testlet the computer had already passed you and was throwing out weird problems for comparisons sake, or to distinguish between top exam takers.

There was a comment a quarter or two ago about the relationship between a candidate's MC test scores and his/her writing scores on the BEC exam. There may be reason to think that performance on MC tests influences what TBS the candidates draw. I would be hopeful in your situation, but on the whole I have found my CPA testing experiences to be more fair than my review courses.

Ive got Wiley and Gleim for FAR, and it just seems like the Wiley questions are so much more difficult than the Gleim questions.

Anyone who has taken FAR and used one othese courses, which one do you think is more representative of the type of questions you'll see on the exam?

How many weeks should I set aside to prep for FAR?

I dont think you can get through FAR with less than 80 hours. There are so much information to read and MCQ to practice. If you can set aside 20 hours a week, I think 5-7 weeks should give you enough time to watch all lectures, take good notes, go through all the recommended MCQs and redo all the MCQ the second time.

    BEC - 73 July11 84 Oct11

Thank you. I will probably give myself a couple extra weeks then. I wanted a baseline of how many weeks it took others to study. I feel like I am a “slower” learner with this stuff, plus I get distracted easily…hey…I should be studying right now for my BEC exam that I have on Thursday but I am getting frustrated with my MCQ's [they aren't going so well…planning a wedding and studying wasn't the best choice by me]. : )

Man, I got messed up by the FAR exam today. I can memorize about 5 chapters worth of material OK, but 9 chapters is a FAR more difficult challenge. So I understand now that I went in with a pretty good understanding of all the important issues, but without knowing any of the minute details 100%. I suppose my exam situation might appear more hopeful had the Sims gone well, but they seemed to go very poorly — much worse than Reg Sims, IMO. Worst feeling is knowing that you answered one correctly, then changed your answer and submitted the exam. But overall I don't think I was prepared to pass anyway.

I have three and a half windows in which to pass two exams, so I will make a commitment to passing AUD on the first try, in October, and then I will take FAR at every opportunity until I pass. It sucks to get beat by an exam, but fortunately I'll have opportunities to go again and again.

This is a post to those that have taken FAR in the past. I am really getting nervous… I took a practice exam (100 questions from my Kaplan Q-Bank) and I got a 71! This is the lowest score that I have received prior to doing my “Prep Blast” study cram session. I am seeing that a lot of people did not do very well and I am wondering.

Did all of you have a final review test before you took the exam and did you feel that it was representative of your final score? I guess what I am asking is did failing the FAR come as a complete shock (because you were confident going in) or did you kind of get the feeling before the exam that you were not going to do well. I am serious and not attempting to make light of it, but I just want to know if what I am sensing about my chances are normal or a part of something bigger (indicating a future of failing the exam).

    Regards,

Well I'm facing FAR in less than 3 weeks. Watched FAR 1,2, and most 3 with Roger. Do you think I should try to finish watching all videos by this weekend and then work on MCQs all next week? Any suggestions?

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley

Well, I just completed my FAR exam and out was horrible. I had a medium-difficult-medium exam. I am just concerned that this time I may not be so lucky! Good luck to all of you who are going to take it this time!
