I completely agree with both of you. I knew I didn't do enough on the mcq. But I also think that the simulation can be the few points between passing and failing. It makes a big difference which simulation they will grade: this can be the difference between passing and failing. This is why we need to put great emphasis on the mcq because if we gain enough points on them we are protected even if they took our worst simulation.

They grade both communications in 2010 and both sims unless its experimental

It isn't scientific, but it's better than nothing…

I once worked 100 past CPA Exam questions over FAR and tallied up the answers.

    If I remember correctly, 60% were B and C…40% were A and D.

I tested this because Cindy @ Yaeger said that A is usually the most-attractive “wrong” answer and they put it there because it's the first one you read.

You can pick A…just be sure that you're sure.

Jeff, is it true that they grade both communications in 2010 and both sims unless its experimental? I think you had said before that they only grade one simulation but there is no way to know which one.

    Hi:

I think that candidate should answer each MCQ carefully and s/he may mark the question where needed. But if s/he is finishing the testlet easily and quickly, then the candidate should not waste the time with unnecessary review or calculations for beating the time that why s/he finished it quickly, go ahead and start next testlet, that may need more time to complete.

Now in the simulations, the candidate will find that some tabs can be completed easily. With accurate speed and proper planning, we can complete all the exam., within 4 hours. If the candidate at least answered all the MCQs and tabs in simulations which s/he feels that those are right, the chances are high to pass this exam., but stiill depending on his/her preparation for this exam.

Aazaidi, what you are describing is a good strategy for someone who is a top performer. I don't know what your scores are but I cannot take advice from a person who consistently scores in the 90-s for instance. I tend to gravitate around the 75 mark and choosing the right strategy is very important for me. I did what you said last time: I was able to work on all problems and simulations and finished on time. I thought I did enough to prove “I can protect the public”:( And I still got a 73… What is crusial for me is do better on the mcq. I couldn't care less about the simulations (especially if they only grade one). What I do for a simulation is start with communication, then try the research for a few minutes and then go to the rest of the tabs and try to do as much as possible. Close to the end I am throwing as much information as I can even if I am just guessing. For me it is very important to check my mcq answers. I had situations when I went back and checked my answer and I realized I fell in a trap the first time… And I can NEVER finish my mcq testlet in 20 minutes by the way…

I agree with you. Took FAR Monday and my first mc testlet was from HELL…took me 50 or so minutes. I studied an additional 110 hours for my retake and felt like I was being punk'd or something. I still feel pressure to get through those areas to get to the sims though and I know I shouldn't.

    AUD 95 (3/5/10); BEC 83 (5/28/10); FAR 71, 72, 74, 82 (10/16/10); REG 65,80(11/23/10)
    ALL DONE 🙂

    Hi:

Sorry for confusion. I changed my above post. I am agreed that all of us have different experience to complete each testlet. But one testlet can be very easy and other may be very difficult. We need strategy to complete each part of this exam., without wasting time on any testlet. My suggestion is that only marked questions by candidate should be reviewed by him or her.

It's okay. I think most people have on or two parts that give them problems. I'm pretty sure FAR is mine. For others, it's AUD or another part. I guess all we can do is study hard and go in with your head held high knowing you did all you could do that time.

    AUD 95 (3/5/10); BEC 83 (5/28/10); FAR 71, 72, 74, 82 (10/16/10); REG 65,80(11/23/10)
    ALL DONE 🙂

I started studying shortly after I found out that I passed BEC in the middle of March. I was able to put about 75-85 hours in during that time period. I took a week off because I had some personal BS that I had to deal with because of mistakes i made in college. I got back to studying last weekend.

Test April 29th and hope to put about another week and a half to go through F5-9, and then start doing massive cram until test day. It seems that I understand the material in the CPA reviews MUCH better than I did in college.

    I love HHHEEELLL!!!!!!!!

I also think FAR seems more manageable to me because this stuff is actually interesting rather than in BEC you had to relearn Econ, Corp Law, and Cost accounting. I hated Econ and cost in school so it took a long time to understand it.
