I passed FAR and did not finish the second simulation.
Take this for what it is worth:
I have not spent more than a few weeks on each exam I have taken. I have passed AUD and FAR and am waiting on my REG score, which I took last Wednesday. I took AUD on January 12th after 2 weeks of good studying and felt awesome about my efforts. I have a friend who spent 2 months studying for AUD. I have no idea how you can remember what you studied in the first couple weeks by the time 2 months has passed, but that is just me.
I took FAR on February 27th, but in the time between AUD and FAR I started working at a CPA firm, I was working 55 hours a week, our daughter was born on January 27th, and I was a walking zombie. I could only get 2 hours in a night (maybe) and would fight falling asleep the second hour. I focused on questions and finished 4 out of 9 lectures. I always liked financial accounting, so I skipped sections I was comfortable on, like consolidations. I ran out of time on the last simulation. I finished 2 out of 5 tabs and wrote a paragraph on the memo. There is no worse feeling…
My advice is that the CPA exams are supposed to be crammed for. You cant spend years studying because you will eventually overstudy and get to the point where you are overthinking everything. Plus how can you remember the details of the first few lectures after a couple of months? They say that CPA stands for Cant Pass Again because everyone crams and then forgets the minute details and acronyms they knew by heart…especially after the stress passes. Just relax, go through the material thoroughly, but dont over do it….you will study yourself into a failing grade.
