    sat for FAR yesterday… it is a beast!  i didn't start studyng until 4/23 after tax season ended.  i would have prefered to sit for it in June ideally … but didn't want to wait until July.  Now i‘m wishing that i had waited… don't feel too confdent about yesterday!  i guess i may be taking it in July afterall!  it's just so much material.

    blue 14,

    I know exactly what you mean because I do taxes too. The whole timing of these open testing windows is obviously not to accommodate an accountant.  I tested anyway to just be less afraid of it by having more exposure to it and you know what, Claire is right about having control over it. I went in thinking, “I'm using YOU this time, FAR” and I went through it without stressing. I truly believe when I retake it in July, I will not be in the shape I was back in January.
    evaianos,
    The Becker “Live” class that I went to was just someone showing us the DVDs. It may be different elsewhere, but I decided to view the lectures on my own time and pace. I watch the lectures and do the multiple choice problems and have a 2007 Wiley CD of questions that I use just for extra reinforcement. Also I joined Club 75 and got notes and watched some videos there. You'll figure out what your style of studying is and works best for you.
    And Claire,
    I left my exam and went straight to the beach with a bottle of Jose Cuervo. In a sense I am getting fed by women, my aunts. We are all having a girls weekend of eating, drinking and laughing. My FAR book is by the nightstand and I don't plan to touch it until I pack it to go home tomorrow. Then back to reality and the dreaded chapter on Pensions.

    @CPawannabe
    I was also scared of Pensions but I didn't see even a single question form that topic!

    I think I had some. I think because I messed up the first question, I got pounded with more in the later testlets.

    The dreaded envelope arrived today and to my surprise I passed FAR! I told everyone that this was the exam I expected to fail. Now I'm 1/2 way there. Waiting on audit score from Wave 2 and sitting for REG July 23.

    BEC – 77; FAR 81; AUD 5/18; REG 7/23

    I wish I had my scores this wave! Unfortunately, I am onto the next wave. However, I will start studyin again June1 because If I fail, I wouldn't have to waste a month.

    I took FAR 4/6 in Nevada.  No score.  Online message said no record was found.  This is my first test.  I'm in a little panic now.  Anyone in the same boat?

    @CPAwannabe:

    You mentioned that the adaptive nature of the test may be why you got hammered with more pensions. I know that the test is adaptive, but if you keep receiving questions which are from the same subject matter bucket, if you keep receiving these types, does that tend to mean you're not doing so well with them?

    The test is adaptive, but I'm not sure if it picks up on specific weaknesses. I remember having a pension question in the first testlet and more in the other testlets, maybe 2 or 3. By “pounded”, I meant they were difficult, not very many though. I don't recall any topic that was plentiful. There was bascially a lot of questions on everything.

    applejuice2012 – I would not read anything into getting pushed to wave 2. All it means is that you probably got a new simulation which automatically pushes you to wave 2. I have seen many individuals who get pushed to wave 2 and score very well (90+). I know the wait is a killer (been there). All I can suggest is concentrate on your next exam. Don't worry about things you can't control. Work on thinks you can control like your study schedule for the next exam. Good Luck.

    I took FAR Friday, 5/28 in NYS. Does anyone know when this wave will be posted?

    BEC 11/14/09 - 89; REG 11/28/09 - 88;
    FAR 05/28/10 - 95; AUD 07/09/10 - 93
    NY soon-to-be CPA!

    Jeff, what are some reasons for being pushed into Wave 2?
