I don't know how to make a new thread about this but I took FAR on May 8th. I know that it is on the brink of being in Wave 1 or Wave 2. Has anyone taking a test on the 8th and gotten their scores in Wave 1?

I did not buy the Becker flashcards or make ones of my own. I've never been able to study effectively with flashcards. What works for me is reading and then rereading the chapters in the text – after the first reading, I usually read only the highlighted sections when I reviewed the chapters again (passages or phrases I had highlighted or ones that the Becker lecturers told us to underline or highlight). If I was having difficulty with the MC questions on a certain topic, I would thoroughly reread that part of the chapter. I didn't write out separate notes or homework problems or formulate my own review material. The Becker text was my sole reference material (though I used Wiley too, for AUD and REG) and I carried it with me everywhere. I have a permanent indentation in my side where it used to rest.

cpa in 2010 – per NASBA twitter “not time yet for wave 1 release…cut-off date (to sit for the exaqm) traditionally the 7th of each mo.” Personally I don't know of anyone whom recieved a grade in wave 1 when sitting after the 7th. Good Luck!

I took far on the 7th and my friend took it on the 8th so if she gets her score when I do, I will post on here to let you know. Our state is usually one of the fast ones at getting scores out after they are released by the AICPA.

Elsie – for AUD and REG, I used Wiley in addition to Becker. I read Wiley and worked all the MC qu's during the month prior to starting Becker. I agree, the material is overwhelming. It covers virtually everything you may encounter on the exam, including areas Becker does not cover. Your task is to make the material manageable.

Everyone learns in different ways. I learned the material by reading the text, and I tested what I learned by working hundreds of MC qu's. I'm a visual learner, not an audio learner. I like to read (see) the material, not listen to it, so I never replayed the lecture CDs from the Becker class, as some people do. And I have to read material several times before it starts sinking in. Every time I reviewed a chapter (not every word, just the sentences or phrases I'd highlighted), I retained more each time. I never got to 100% retention but I probably made it to 80-90% – and that's enough to pass the exam.

Becker tells you what to highlight (plus I underlined additional sections that I felt were important) – I don't know if Yaeger does. If not, you need to do it yourself. You can't read Wiley or any text, cover to cover, multiple times – you have to read key passages only. I'd advise you to write out notes or make flashcards only if you're having a problem sorting out specific material. I only did this a couple of times: I wrote out all the ratios on 1 or 2 pages, so they'd be easier to memorize, and I scribbled tons of notes on the financial formulas in chapter 3 of Becker (BEC) becuase if any chapter was my potential waterloo, that was it.

    To sum:

    A. Read the chapter and highlight as you go (or listen to the CD/video, if you learn best that way)

    B. Work MC qu's

    C. Read the explanations for the correct AND incorrect answers

    D. Keep repeating A, B, and C until the day you take the exam.

I had 2 months to prepare for AUD, REG and FAR; I had 3 weeks for BEC. I recommend 2 months (if you work full-time). I also recommend a venti chai tea from Starbucks every day around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. The caffeine enabled me to double my study time.

    AUD – 99; REG – 98; BEC – 82; FAR – 4/26/10

Think there is any hope of FAR getting released second again? I'm betting I see a 67. At least I'm still sorta studying. The wait is killing me!

    @Canttakeitt

I am expecting 65, however, I am not carryin' on my studies because few days may be 10-15 until result won't matter that much. If I fail this test, I will most like be taking at the end of JULY because it doesn't make sense taking before that because the results won't e out until august. Therefore, I will have complete two months for the preparation and taking it the second time will definitely suck.

    BEC - 82 Reg-87 Aud - 86 Far - 81 (THANX THE LORD)

I just took FAR on May 10th… unfortunately I still have a long time to wait before I will get my result. I was wondering though, does the difficulty of the simulations you are given depend on how well you did on the multiple choice testlets? I know the difficulty of the second and third MC testlets depend on the previous testlets but didn't know if it worked the same way for the simulations.

    FAR: 78 BEC: 79 REG: 86 AUD: 74, 83 DONE!!!

I didn't study at all after the first time I took it and I felt like my mind dumped everything in the garbage that I knew before, so this time I've been reviewing the book every so often just to stay fresh just in case. I agree, when I get my 67 lol I think I'm going to re-watch the lectures and clear my stats and start from scratch. If need be, I'll be taking it the end of July or first week of Aug to make sure I'm in wave 1.

I'm crossing my fingers we all passed though. I for sure don't want to have another summer spent indoors looking at Becker.
