AnonymousInactiveSince I'm in Vegas, I will be heading to the East to celebrate passing lol. Hopefully it will be in June and not August or later.
LMAO! #1 on Jeff's list is so true…. I have used the study excuse a ton to get out of things.

AnonymousInactiveElsie:
I am a Becker user and took FAR this testing window. The number of pages in Becker are as follows:
Chap. 1 69 pages
Chap. 2 69 pages
Chap. 3 71 pages
Chap. 4 75 pages
Chap. 5 75 pages
Chap. 6 63 pages
Chap. 7 63 pages
Chap. 8 73 pages
Chap. 9 83 pages
Becker is the only source I have used so far so I do not know how to compare it to the others. I passed REG, AUDIT, & BEC the first time with Becker but have not received my grade for FAR. I felt fairly good about the multiple choice, but the exam simulations were much, much more difficult than the examples in Becker. Compared to the other exams, this exam just has a lot more material than the previous exams no matter which preparatory information you use.
Good Luck!

AnonymousInactive1.) Learn how to socialize with someone besides Tim Gearty and Peter Olinto.
2.) See sunlight and no longer look like I'm a character on True Blood.
3.) Hope my children don't scream “stranger danger!” when I see them more than just in passing.

grandmaParticipantAfter a lifetime of “right-brained” careers (pianist, board game creator, college English teacher, news writer, press officer for a foreign consulate), I started working for my husband, a CPA in private practice, 10 years ago and discovered I loved accounting. I decided 2-1/2 years ago to take the plunge – went back to school to get the 60-plus hours I needed to qualify to take the CPA exam and took the first section this past November. I've used Becker with some supplementation from Wiley, have passed 3 sections and just took FAR. I spoke recently to an advanced accounting class, imparting advice on preparing for and taking the CPA exam. I've enjoyed reading this forum for the last few months and thought it was time to jump in, especially if I can help any of you out there. Also, I'm in Texas, so I will be sweating out my FAR score with the rest of you Texans. Good luck to everyone.
AUD – 99; REG – 98; BEC – 82; FAR – 4/26/10

OnMyWay75ParticipantEvery morning is filled with the anticipation of “Will today be the day I find out I'm a CPA”. The journey has been a long, challenging and rewarding one. So many times I was ready to take the white towel and chuck it into the middle of the ring. Missing out on family envents (not my favorite thing to do but better in comparison to studying), tailgating, beautiful sunny days in the yard. I took FAR, my final part, on April 26th and have felt so free since that time. The wife is already wanting to vacation plans but that must wait until the results are granted down to the masses from those few with the powers. Hopefully the 150+ study hours well gain a 75+ score. Wishing you all the best and positive results in the weeks (wave 1) and months (wave 2) to come.

FARbehindParticipantGrandma are you for real??? 99 on AUD, 98 on REG, I don't get why only 82 for BEC??… Just kidding. I guess both parts of your brain are pretty good. Thanks for trying to help. I think I am turning into a veteran now with 2 pass and 2 fail scores. I guess I will e-mail you for your notes. Thanks again and good luck with your last score.

AnonymousInactivepls can somebody help me suggest a good flashcard system to replace any notes for FAR i really dont know how to take notes bcos i tend to omit importatnt info and i also gain more by listening only. however my REG notes helped me although i believe i missed many important info but still it did help towards the very end to have a quick review.
i will appreciate any suggestions as to any great free notes that many test takers are offering all over OR better still any good flashcards that work for the CPa test especially for FAR
are flashcards for audit helpful bcos of the memorization????any ideas???

grandmaParticipantSpecifically, my experience with FAR:
(1) Though I did tons of practice simulations before AUD and REG, I did very few for FAR. I just didn't have time, felt I needed to focus on learning the material well. I ended up with one fairly easy simulation and one much harder. However, I do not feel that working any more practice simulations beforehand would have helped me on that one. I split my time pretty evenly between working practice MC questions and reading the Becker chapters over and over … and over. I firmly believe you have to do both.
(2) Time is the main enemy on FAR. I paced myself through the MC questions so that I'd have about an hour per simulation, and I'm glad I did. I needed every minute. There were definitely some MC questions that I couldn't figure out in a couple of minutes and I knew that if I spent 5 or 10 minutes on them, I'd probably get it right. But I felt like I didn't have that kind of time, so I guessed and went on.
(3) I did the writing component first, as soon as I opened the simulation. One of the Becker teachers recommended that, and I've done it every time. It's a relief to get it out of the way, and you can always go back and add something afterwards if you have time. I didn't waste time jotting down notes; I just started writing quickly, getting out everything I could think of as I wrote. I didn't spend more than 10-15 minutes on the writing part, trying to leave at least 45 minutes for the rest of the simulation.
(4) The worst part of the exam for me was that there were a number of MC questions that were on topics I knew (or thought I knew) extremely well. But there would be an unfamiliar element thrown in, or a number I wasn't sure I needed, and I didn't know how to handle it. I think I felt really secure about only half, maybe 60%, of the MC questions, and that's why I am not sure I passed.
(5) Except for one tab on one simulation, there weren't any questions that I felt were not covered in Becker.
(6) In my opinion, it's better to know 85% of the Becker material really well than to “sort of” know 100% of it. If you don't have time to master all of it, master what you can.

AnonymousInactiveI had a question regarding entering the journal entries in the simulations on the exam. When entering a debit entry into my review software's practice simulations, I needed to enter a “0” in the credit column or it would mark the credit column wrong. I was wondering in the actual exam (when entering a debit entry) if you put a “0” in the credit column instead of leaving a blank, it will give you the same credit as if you left it blank. In the actual exam, I entered the “0's” instead of leaving it blank. I've been stressing over whether the exam would mark it wrong. But I'm sure the software the test uses is better than my review software.
Does anyone have any idea about entering “0's” and just leaving it blank in the simulations?
