glogo: focus on any area where you feel weak. i would recommend doing a progress test, then going back to see which topics you missed, then go back and reread the book and redo the MCQ. If you aren't missing in a particular area, focus on the areas that are more heaving covered (per the front on the book). doing more MCQ never hurts.

    NY Candidate using Becker: FAR (2/20) - 81, AUD (4/3) - 92, REG (5/3) - 95, BEC (5/29) - 89 DONE!!!

    Hello fellow sufferers!

So I am taking FAR on May 25th and am using Becker to study. I am using the 2009 book and am worried that I might be missing updated info. There are some updates on the Becker website, but I have no desire to go through all of them and try remeber even more information!

Any advise as to the major changes from 2009 to 2010 that could really hinder on exam day?

    Thanks! 🙂

Your materials for 2009 are still good, I think. Missing the updates will not make or break your exam. You shouldn't waste your time on them but concentrate on the material. For FAR there are not too many changes (they might be for REG).

FARbehind – thanks so much! Thankfully, REG is already a “CREDIT”, now concentrating on FAR! 🙂

I thought consolidations were not in 2009 Becker software.

    2009 F3 is a bit off… other than that, 2009 should work…

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

    HFBamaFan & glogo2384 – thank you guys!

there are two F3 options – option B is for exams beginning July 2009, that has marketable securities, business combinations/consolidations, cost & equity methods, consolidated financial statements, acquisition, intercompany transactions, combined f/s and push down accounting.

    Does this sound right?

    Thanks!

Elena, that sounds correct. F3-B is what you should be using post July 2009. Ignore the ‘pooling of interest' questions in the MC, they no longer apply.

    ? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
    ? REG - 77 (1/15/10
    ? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)

I had an issue with the wording of one of the simulations that I took yesterday and noticed on my printout from Prometric that I can contact the AICPA with my concerns. I am wondering if this will have any positive or negative affect on my exam? Thoughts?

In consolidated F/S, on the consolidated I/S is the income just, Parent's Income minus any goodwill impairment, this was a question on one of the simulated exams and i cannot find a formula in Becker. But when i go back and look at the explanation on the graded simulated exam it looks like its just (Parents income minus share in subs income plus the share in subs income) and then less any impaired goodwill which there was none. Please help cuz i do not get this and I have studied everything so much my head is gonna explode.

PS i have the 2010 edition of FAR for becker and it sounds like 2009 is the same thing for F3 btw

Also, I got 21 out of 30 on all 3 MC sections and then about a 65 and a 70 on the simulations on the simulated exam, will this be good enough to pass, my test is on friday. I didnt do a crucial review before like i probably will thrusday and friday before my test so im hoping i remember a little more when i actually take it. Please advise.

    csvna41,

Yes, report any problem you have to whomever they indicate within 5 days. Report everything to everyone: AICPA, NASBA and Prometric. CYA! My directions said to report problems to NASBA. I have had issues with both tests. If it is technical, show it to the Prometric guys. I did not do this because I was running out of time. I found they point fingers a lot and my issues ended up nowhere.

1-week of re-studying left (using Becker):

Anyone have any input on how I should use this final week? My plan as of right now is as follows:

    Today: 9-5pm (F3/F4 Questions)

    Wed: 9-5pm (F5 Questions)

    Thurs: 9-5pm (F6 Questions)

    Friday: 9-5pm (F7 Questions)

    Weekend: 4-8 study hours total (Re-review F8/F9 notes – Gov/NFP)

    Monday: 9-7pm (F8/F9 Questions)

Next Tuesday: 9-8pm (Go back and review any areas I feel weak in)

Next Wednesday: Re-take FAR @ Noon (Scored a 72 the first time)

I don't like to study much on the weekends, don't want to get burnt out…

    ? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
    ? REG - 77 (1/15/10
    ? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
    ? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)
