CPAWannaBe – I'll be with you in the next window. Let's knock this darn thing out. I lost AUD when I pulled a 73 on FAR this past window. Back down to 2 to pass but I know I'll defeat FAR this time around and AUD as well and will be a CPA in September. Already set my 7/24 date for FAR and I've been study for 4 weeks already. The BEAST will met it's match when I walk in this time.!

    Damn, another 71 how ironic….

My re-take review process was completely derailed by a number of factors. In 3 weeks I probably only got the chance to put in 20 hrs thanks to dear old mom coming for an unannounced 1 week visit and a few other factors including a nervous breakdown. So since my 3rd child is due any day now over the next few weeks, I'm hanging it up for a few and going all or nothing in the OCT NOV window, I will not fail then, mark my words. Third time's a charm, I knwo exactly what I need to do and where I came up short, I knew it before I even sat.

Congrats the rest of you, at least I am 75% the way there.

EFF YOU FAR MONSTER I'M COMIN FOR YOUR A$$

    MASS - BEC 79, AUD 75, REG 80, FAR 71 FEB'10, FAR 71 JUN'10, FAR NOV'10 77 and I'm spent...

Wow! got my score and passed with a 77. I must say this is one the best places to be if you're taking this horrendous exam. Something great about being with people who knows exactly how horrible this thing can be.

Anyway, three down and one to go…. wish I had phone this temporary home sooner.

Congrats to everyone that passed… and keep going for everyone else; I have faith that it will end for all of us.

Aud- Pass, BEC- Pass, FAR- Pass, REG- Pass.... Done!

Hi Folks am just about getting ready to sit my FAR exam 07/09/2010, and using the Becker review material. Any advise on how good this material is? Some of the Professors who give the live class lectures say you may see similar questions if not the same questions to what is in the actual MCQ's in the book and DVD. Does anybody who has used this material agree?

Becker is wonderful if you have a solid foundation in accounting to begin with. The mutiple choice questions will prepare you well, if you do them all several times. You will see similar questions (usually not word for word) on your exam. I just found out today I killed FAR using Becker. That being said, I also spent about 250-300 hours studying for it. Good luck!

I’m 49 years old and I’ve been following this board for almost a year. After four years and 28 tests I passed all four parts. It’s been a grueling journey that was made palpable by Jeff and his website. There are some very good people on here and I appreciate all of you. I will say that I probably waited too long to do this and I’m fairly confident it wasn’t worth it. I let time pass that I was not fully with my wife and kids and I agonized over every test. The way they structure this test is a joke. It seems as though they are trying to show us how smart they are as opposed to how smart we are. I could write at great length about this, but its water under the bridge now. Congratulations to everyone that passed and good luck to everyone still plugging away.

Jules2486 how long did you take to prepare for this exam and did you do all the multiple choice questions including the supplemental ones provided by becker on the DVD. I believe there about 1600

    LB0324,

Amen! The time I am losing out on with my children and husband is not worth this exam. I'm a year into it and I will give it another year at best then I am over and out.

    Congratulations on passing!

I started Jan 11th and took the test on April 1st. I went through all the lectures, read the book two times and skimmed it once, did the multiple choice questions including the supplementals three times, and did all of the simulations twice. That is overkill, but I wanted to make sure I was as prepared as possible the first time because I knew I did not want to have to study for FAR again.

I took the same approach with AUD and BEC, putting about 140 hours in audit in the month of April, and 130 hours into BEC in the month of May and managed to pass FAR, AUD, and BEC in the 2nd testing block all with scores in the 90's.

I think if you have a pretty solid foundation and you are willing to put in the work, Becker is an excellent program. But any program is only as good as the effort one is willing to put into it. I hope this helps. Good luck with your studying. It is really long and tough process, but so worth it when you get that passing score.

that and don't fool around on the last two chapters of Becker – you gotta know that stuff. I did all the Becker MCQs at least once; two or three times for weaker sections. Watched all lectures once, read each chapter once thouroughly and then again as a fly-by. 200 hours total. You gotta do this and not much else for a couple months.
