@leebird, you can do this; just one step at a time and don't come to a complete stop. We all hate this process, and the absolute inherent value of the exam is higj;y suspect. But, really, we all count on others giving up in order to keep our ranks thin and compensation up (for those who pass all 4). If you stick with this, you will have a life-long achievement and bump-up to your annual income. The work is not nearly as tough as the exam;…please, stick with us!

@LifeOnHold I have it on good authority that they do not always grade both of the simulations. One of my friends took FAR without even looking at any governmental or non profit stuff and also didn't even touch one of his simulations and still got a 73. I am not sure if the ALWAYS only choose one to grade or if they just sometimes include a new one to benchmark results against.

They grade both simulations. They only grade one communication of the two, though.

Where do you get this information. My friend who took it said he got owned on the MC AND didn't even touch ANY of one of the simulations and still got a 73. I just don't see this as possible if they grade both Simulations. If we assume that they only graded the written portion that he actually completed AND that he received 100% correct on the part that he did complete. This would mean that he would get 20%/30% on the simulations and 53%/70% on the MC section, or roughly 75% of the MC questions correct. According to him, this is NOT even close to what he did and he probably didn't get the rest of the simulation 100% correct anyways. Further, this would also mean that the 1 written portion of 1 of the simulations would be 10% of the total points and all the rest of each simluation is also 10%. This doesn't seem likely to me either. It would make the most sense that the written portion would be graded only if the accompanying problem is graded. Especially of the reason for the simulation not being graded is for benchmark purposes.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I have heard it both ways concerning whether or not they grade both simulations. I guess, for your friend who got a 73, it didn't matter anyway. I just can't imagine receiving a passing score without at attempting the last simulation. I will hope for the best, but am prepared for the worst. For those of us working full time in public accounting, we are approaching busy season. Not the best of times to have to retake a section.

Absolutely, I am scheduled to take AUD on the 4th, right before busy season starts.

just can't simply understand this entire grading policy anyways..

btw, given everything turned around pretty quickly last week, when will FAR score be released? Tuesdayish..?

AUD (99) FAR (94) REG (waiting) BEC (87)

I think you both might be just a little bit off base. My understanding was that a portion/tab of a simulation could be pre-test without the entire simulation necessarily being pre-test (not graded). Maybe Jeff or other users can elaborate on this. Blaine, your percentage calculations are a little fuzzy, too. With different weights applied to questions throughout the adaptive testing process, 75% of the points of raw score be gained with much less than 75% of the questions being correct. You'll just drive yourself crazy trying to do the speculative math in reverse.

haha… that is the question isn't it? how do they grade these exams? No one really knows. At first I thought they graded both sims and and only one essay. But then I passed REG when I knew I bombed the simulation. I just left most of it blank. And I did not even attempt one of the essays. I still passed with a pretty solid score. So I was so confused… Then I heard of people who passed without even doing the sims (only finished the research and essay tabs). It still profounds me how these exams are graded. And you know what? No one will ever know. 🙂 I am waiting for my last exam result–FAR. I again bombed the simulation. And this time I am sure I didn't pass. But I wouldn't be surprised if I did pass… I know… sounds confusing… but so is the grading process 🙂

Oh i know that they do weight questions and everything, but they do say that 70% of total grade is from MC and 10% communications and 20% the other portion of the simulations. So he would have to have had 75% credit for the MC questions he did take, roughly.

I hadn't heard the theory that only a portion/tab of the simluation being pre-test. But that makes more sense than not grading an entire simulation, but also makes it less likely that my friend would have gotten a 73.

I've been lurking for a few months now, but decided to finally make a post.

I hope/pray/wish upon a star/whatever it takes that FAR is released this week. I took the exam on October 16 and I guess I had a new simulation that automatically put me into wave two. I've since taken AUD (11/30) and received my score, but the wait for FAR is killing me!

    FAR - 87; AUD - 95; REG - 85; BEC - 90

    DONE!
