Hi guys, I took BEC exam in December without studying because I wanted to get an extra chance to take the exam before April, 2017. Unfortunately, I passed (80s).
That December surprise made me overconfident, then I scheduled all 3 remaining parts in one test window. I took FAR 2 weeks ago with only studying ch8 & ch9. When I walked out of exam room, I knew I’m doomed. I left 4 simulations totally blank since I only left 25 mins for simulations. My 2nd testlet was a BEAST, and it took me long time to finish. About 80% of questions on it were computation questions.
    1. I’m still waiting for the exam score. Is there still a chance for me to pass that exam with 4 blank simulations?
    2. Also, my AUD exam is on next Monday (80 hours from now).I haven’t studied anything for AUD yet due to my severe procrastination. Which chapter should I focus on now?

    @crazyleon

I chose Accounting because it was the top 1 (alphabetically, starting from “A”) in my college's major list, and I believe Accounting is a very important skill in this world. Besides, I can learn whatever I like by either taking college courses or self-learning. I did hesitate to choose between engineering majors or business majors. The story of Edison Thomas(businessman) and Nikola Tesla(scientist, electrical engineer) helped me made my decision. Businessmen always win.

I wonder if the 4 SIMS left blank on FAR had a bunch of cells where 0 or empty was the correct answer therefore giving some points on those even though they were skipped? I know I had SIMs that required blank cells to stay that way and I assume I got those right or earned points for them.. Maybe the those four he skipped were heavily like that and he earned say 10 0r 15% of the points available on those. Would give him more leeway on not having to ace the MCQ.

Just my thoughts. Either way congrats.

If you want to maximize your earning potential I would suggest a different career field than accounting if this comes so easy to you.

First go at the CPA! Only using Becker
    Reg / Nov 2015 - 87
    Far / Apr 2016 - 79
    Bec / May 2016 - 80

I believe u and here are what my understanding of your story:
1.You have knowledge of Accounting and you could have done good even without reading those 2 chapters.
2.Most of us have strategies to rush MCQ and have too much time for SIMs. Your theory says focus on MCQ ,give enough time to MCQ ,apply all kinds of memory game to recall correct answer and don't worry about finishing SIMS.This theory worked for you but at most it can be said as chance not statistically significant.
3.You should write book ,blog etc on subject “how to pass CPA without wasting weeks and months” (seriously , no sarcasm or pun intended ).
Loved your strategy and will love it more if you can be more specific on some strategies ,that would be great contribution to this forum.
I am particularly intrigued by you FAR theory because I myself don't believe in rote memorization and passed Accounting paper in CMA and Chartered Accountancy exam (India ).This CA exam is considered one of the toughest exam of India.During my old era pass percentage was 4-7% (now 7-12%).So I can say I know accounting and Cost accounting very well.I mentioned my Accounting background not to brag about me but just to say I know accounting and studying Becker's etc over and over ,solving MCQs and still so far couldn't crack 100% MCQ ,not even at Ninja. There are questions which need rote memorization in CPA.
Coming to BEC ,I knew the subject very well and made strategy to get 75 out of 85 ,it didn't work and got 72 and 73 but not 75.I checked the AICPA site how they grade and came to a specific question answered in FAQs that can a person pass BEC without writing WC ? Answer was extremely rare.I changed the strategy and with the help of this forum could write all there WC and got 80.
My takeaway from your stories :Don't sweat it if going above your MCQ budgeted time.Dylan has passed with 4 missed SIM , you may pass , still have hope.

Fortunately I think I failed my BEC exam after studying for 100+ hours.

Yeah, fortunately I flunked FAR after working 1,700 MCQ and spending 2 months doing nothing but studying for it.

Oh yeah, Dylan, businessmen always win. Always. Just look at our new president. What a champ!! I'm being sarcastic of course.

Just to clarify, he chose the accounting field because it was the first on a list that was given to him of professions that was done in alphabetical order. If astronaut was alphabetically first, he would have just picked that and probably would have discovered a new planet WITHOUT even going to space or even getting out of bed. LOL

I'm still laughing over the fork photo. This should be on Another71 hall of fame wall.

Frankly, it doesn't matter to me if he studied 0 hours or less than 30 hours. For someone like me who devoted 150+ hours for each exam, I interpret the amount of time he devoted to each exam as “without studying”

Thanks for the thread. It's quite amusing to see all the catty comments. Reminds me of high school all over again.

Honestly I doubted you would pass FAR, but Congrats!. I hope you get to be one of those people who make it to partners before they turn 30. Good luck on the other 2. I graduated on the top 1% Summa Cum Laude, and failed BEC and extremely nervous for my REG test LOL. I feel like a failure :””(. LOL. But I'm glad for you! Let the haters hate. but please encourage others to study regardless of your wonderful experience we are not as gifted =/

Seriously this guy should publish a book entitled “How to Pass The CPA Exam Without Studying For It”. If the strategy is legit, he'll be a millionaire and won't ever need to work again.

Lmao @ the people assuming anyone who questions the validity of this is a hater or mean spirited.

I think it's amazing if he truly did pass two parts of the cpa exam and left more than 50% of the sims blank, I just doubt it (a lot).. does that make me a hater or mean? Oh well.

This man posted every crazy scenario a person can say, including picking this profession because it was was alphabetically first on a list of professions, and people post “congrats ignore the haters” lol, we aren't haters we are shocked and in doubt. I will bet that this man studied and got that FAR score, and for some reason wants to claim otherwise. He's going to post that he passed audit with two days of studying also and the “non haters” will post “congrats, well done! How did you do it a 3rd time, you super genius you!”

Definitely not a hater here – a bit sarcastic in my rhetoric, but I'm sorta that way anyway. If I ever meet even one person from this forum face-to-face, it'll be a miracle out of the Scriptures.
I don't care what anyone else does. If this guy somehow has the key to the kingdom, I'd love to hear it and apply it for myself! We all would! But, as I said many miles ago on this thread, it seems to be largely without foundation, and more along the lines of “fluke” rather than something that has real substance. Anyhoo, our job as accountants is to approach everything with an objective and questioning mind and that's what I personally do in my life with everything. But, I shouldn't be called a hater or naysayer just because I'm not high-five'ing the guy for getting through two parts without studying or not fully supporting the approach.

This time you should post a fork and spoon on the opposite side of your screenshot.
