    I took FAR today (again).
    I've gotten a 68, 70, 71, 73.
    The last time I took it- i felt good when i left. All the questions and SIMS were comparable to NINJA.
    This time- I was soo lost. The SIMS were so involved! Multiple tabs and back and forth. I'm exhausted!
    I don't understand how i can feel confident on one exam and feel totally defeated the next time I took it.
    I assume the NINJA MCQ and SIMS are updated with content.
    UGH!!!!

    Sorry about your most recent exam experience. Were your previous attempts before Q3 of this year? Are you saying that you don't feel like NINJA prepared you adequately this time around?

    The NINJA MCQ have been updated for changes in the FAR exam content. I felt like NINJA MCQ prepared me well for the MCQ on the test. The new version of SIMs are a different animal that require more out of you.

    A lot of people walk out of these exams feeling bad about them and still pass with amazing scores. I hope you are one of them.

    BEC = 79

    AUD = 79

    FAR = 84

    REG = 86

    Prayer + AICPA blueprints = my success

    BEC = 72 (6/08/16)
    FAR = ?
    REG = ?
    AUD = ?

    HI Lentilcounter

    I was shocked by the exam MCQ and SIM. My last FAR attempt was Sept 2. I knew the NINJA MCQ and SIMS back an forth. The subject matter on the exam was presented in such a strange way- it felt foreign. The last time I took FAR on Sept 2 I felt the NINJA MCQ prepared me very well and the SIMS were similar- but I missed it by 2 points. I have no idea what to think. This time, I started from scratch, did all MCQ and did all SIMS multiple times- and felt the exam was a lot harder.

    Looks like you are waiting for FAR results as well?
    Best of luck to you!

    @eeas0014

    I took my second mock exam 8 days before my exam and got an 83 so I was feeling okay. So from there, I worked on finsihing Becker's final review in the mornings before work (1.5 hours each morning), then did sets of 33 multiple choice in the evenings after work (1.5 hours each evening). I jotted down notes on items I was getting wrong on the final review, and I didn't waste time going back and getting the right answers because I tend to memorize. I did that Monday – Thursday then on Friday and Saturday I went through the SIMS listed on the other thread I referenced, did a few sets on multiple choice, and made sure I really had a handle on my weak areas by writing and re-writing journal entries/formulas etc. I skimmed over F9 and F10, but otherwise only used the book if I was unclear on something. I read through my notes (3/4 of a one subject notebook) about three times the week before the exam, bookmarking my notes on my weak areas. On Sunday, I read through all my notes once and that was it. I probably spent a total of 40 hours reviewing in a span of two weeks. Hope that helps!

    Thanks everyone for the kind words! Five weeks of waiting is just cruel!

    I have not seen anyone mentioning anything about NFP or GOV accounting from their exam experience. Prior to the change in exam, I would see people would claim that 40% of the exam was related to NFP& GOV topics. I am taking the FAR end of this window. Should I spend a lot of time on those two topics?

    I can't really disclose what was on the exam, but I would suggest you know all of the topics.
    The material is vast, with a limited selection of questions on each exam, so you never know what you are going to get.
    I believe the blueprint references 10-12% for Gov't, and 10-12% for NFP.
    It would seem pretty important to know the topics if it could represent 20-24% of your grade.
    Just my 2 cents.

    I can pretty much guarantee if you skip any topic, you are more likely than not to see that topic on your exam. It's like they know your weak areas.
    The post you just made probably goes into the AICPA/NASBA database so they make sure to give you lots of GOV&NFP.

    @ReckedRacing I was not expecting anyone to disclose anything. But if you read any FAR exam experience from 2016, every other post talked about how they underestimated NFP/GOV. I have yet to see any comment on any of this topic.

    The best thing to do is to study everything.

    Took FAR yesterday – been a year since I tested. The experience that I had and the only thing I can say is that I should of practice more in the simulations to get a better feel about how monstrous they can be. Give yourself plenty of time and stick to the standard time allowance study guides suggest. I ended up with 3 mins left. Did I pass? I'm gonna go with a Helllllll No. lol.

    I used Gleim – I ran out of time to go through each of the simulations for each study unit but I believe that if I had gone through them I would of been better prepared.
    I did go through the AICPA sample which did prepare me on what to expect as far as the setup/look of the exam. Its changing again in 2018 (yea!)

    Am currently studying with Gleim as well! Aside from not having the time to touch on SIMs, did you feel that the review course helped prepare you at least in terms of the MCQ?

    Am finishing the last study unit but have forgot so much from the others :c

    @maffs

    I felt pretty comfortable with the MCQs using Gleim. This time around in studying, I didn't focus on getting a low score (showing in red) in a study unit – I used to let it affect me, wasted a lot of time I think. At first, seeing red would give me some anxiety. Once I passed this ridiculous feeling of trying to see only green (over 75), I was able to start focusing on the problems and what I didn't understand.

    I practiced some JE's and how it flowed in the financial statements, reading each section first and then testing only 10-20 questions per study unit. It's impossible to be completely prepared because of the fact there is so much information but if you can feel comfortable with problem-solving/JEs/Financial statements, then I believe Gleim can definitely prepare you.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey guys, first time posting on here

    Retaking FAR in a few days (studied probably a total of 4 days the first time I took it – November 2016, scored 63). Pretty behind on my studying this time too (work full time and family responsibilities). Wondering if there's anything I should focus on more? Obviously not asking anyone to disclose anything against the rules but just looking for some direction… feeling hopeless at this point and thinking I'll be retaking in 2018 :'(

    If you have the money I would suggest a cram course.
    The cram course will cover the most heavily tested areas.
    Time management is crucial for FAR, and I'm afraid the only way to help there is through practice and proficiency with the material.
    Good luck.
