All of the work for my Master’s degree is complete – I walk at graduation on Saturday. I have 3 letters after my name, MTX. Next 3, CPA!!! While taking the Becker class at my university, I felt like I was rushing through the material just to get it done for the grade – I didn’t really buckle down & study it they way I need to in order to pass this danged exam. Starting tomorrow, I’m a CPA Exam NINJA! I have the NINJA notes, my Becker materials, and a brand-new 3″ 3-ring binder with college ruled and graph paper, and 4 new pens – 2 blue, 2 black.

I plan to start with FAR, my beast. I will take it in the first week of July (assuming there’s an opening). That will give me almost 2 full months to study. Then I’ll tackle Audit for August, and BEC/REG – one in October, the other in November. Not sure about the order yet on those last 2. I am hoping & praying that I can pass this thing on the first try. I know that’s aiming high but hey, a girl can dream. lol…

That’s my plan, who’s with me?

@Ashley- I noticed you started studying last week. What approach are you taking? Just MCQs or restarting the NINJA framework? Just asking since it's less than 4weeks. Do you think that is enough? I just started MCQs today :-/

@kmwgrace – any deals with car rentals around? I want a minivan in Seattle from June 25-30 and the lowest is about 380 which is good, but still too much for our girl scout trip to Idaho. Thanks, and blessings…

Nicole – I started studying about a week ago, but I don't think I got off to a great start. I have watched some lectures, but today I decided to read through the textbook that is covered in the lectures – I marked what areas the lectures went over. If I feel okay about it I will go on to do MCQ in the book and then do the testbank, which is what I am currently doing for my current section – module 9D. For things I am weak in I will do the lectures, but I watch them at a faster speed using VLC. If I can score close to a 70% I will take note of what to review at the end.

I am getting worried about the time frame because I have been having a hard time really focusing. I have the time, but I just feel out of it. And to be honest, I have been out from work, and if I go back on Monday it's only for 3 days. I work for a school district and the last day is in 1 week. So I will have everyday free to study after that. With audit I felt so much more confident. I know I will pass AUD, but FAR is so much information.

I am hoping to give myself a week review after I get through all the modules. If I don't have a week, or close to a week to review before my exam, I may push it out a week. That's my plan and I really hope it works.

When are you taking it and what are you doing? Is this a re-take for you or your first time?

@Ashley. This is my first time taking FAR, but I was suppose to take it back in February. My NTS expired back in March and I ended up canceling FAR. I have taken AUD, REG, and BEC but failed. The biggest mistake I made was getting my NTS for all four parts. I was using Becker then, now I am using Rogers. I have watched all the lectures already and taken notes. This was about two weeks ago. I was originally schedule to take FAR July 2 but ended up rescheduling for July 9. I was in the process of moving last week and did not study at all so I basically wasted the whole week I “added.” I did read Far 1 but did not continue to keep reading due to time. Our new home is a bit more organize now so I finally got back to studying today and started MCQs. I completed about 55 in 3.5 hrs. I plan to wake up early and study 3-4 hrs early for the rest of the time remaining and 5-6 on weekends no matter what. I am currently not working but I am finishing up my last grad class. I have finals next week. I also have a 16 month old so the only quite time is in the morning and during his nap time. I think scoring 70 is pretty good. I was getting most of the MCQs wrong so I questioned whether I was going to be able to finish up all MCQs and rewrite my notes in less than 4 weeks!

I haven't scheduled my test yet, but I'm intending to take FAR sometime in July. I've failed two other sections with basically the same score and the same sporadic study methods/amount of effort, so I'm trying to be more methodical this time around especially since this is the section that really scares me!

I'm getting up a couple of hours earlier than normal and trying to at least watch some lectures and take a few notes, then do another hour or two during the weeknights. So far I'm ahead of schedule, but I usually start out strong then get burnt out, so hopefully I keep the pace up. I finally cleaned out the spare room so I now have an area solely dedicated to studying, which seems to help.
