All of the work for my Master’s degree is complete – I walk at graduation on Saturday. I have 3 letters after my name, MTX. Next 3, CPA!!! While taking the Becker class at my university, I felt like I was rushing through the material just to get it done for the grade – I didn’t really buckle down & study it they way I need to in order to pass this danged exam. Starting tomorrow, I’m a CPA Exam NINJA! I have the NINJA notes, my Becker materials, and a brand-new 3″ 3-ring binder with college ruled and graph paper, and 4 new pens – 2 blue, 2 black.

I plan to start with FAR, my beast. I will take it in the first week of July (assuming there’s an opening). That will give me almost 2 full months to study. Then I’ll tackle Audit for August, and BEC/REG – one in October, the other in November. Not sure about the order yet on those last 2. I am hoping & praying that I can pass this thing on the first try. I know that’s aiming high but hey, a girl can dream. lol…

That’s my plan, who’s with me?

Wow, okay… I'm sorry about your kids' dad, that's a rough situation. How amazing that your family is helping you out though! And yes definitely learn to use that crock pot! For some recipes you can check out this website: https://crockingirls.com/ – they're also on facebook. They provide shopping lists to go with the recipes, which I find immensely helpful. One super easy one I've made a few times now only requires 3 ingredients! (well 4 if you count water).

    2 Chicken breasts

1 packet taco seasoning (the kind you use to make taco ground beef)

1 can diced tomatoes, any flavor

(to double the recipe just double the ingredients)

I'll give you directions starting from right after you take the crock pot out of the box & rinse the inside crock part. 🙂

    1. Plug in your crock pot and press start. (the first time I used mine, I thought it turned on because it beeped. I did not realize I had to press start). Leave it on high if your chicken is frozen. Set it to medium if it's thawed.

    2. In a medium to large bowl, mix 1 packet of taco seasoning with 1 cup water.

    3. Add in 1 can diced tomatoes & mix.

    4. Pour enough liquid mixture into the crock pot to coat the bottom.

    5. Put your chicken breasts into the crock pot in an even layer along the bottom.

    6. Pour the rest of the liquid mixture over the chicken, making sure that all of the chicken is covered with liquid.

    7. Put the lid on the crock pot and (as Alton Brown would say) walk away, just… walk away.

When you come home from work or gymnastics or piano lessons, your chicken will be pull-apart tender and delicious! You can serve it over rice, or in burritos, or on a salad, or with your favorite veggie and potatoes (I had this with sweet potato the other night!). So yummy and SO easy! I've even used the leftover liquid as a soup base.

Good for you for wanting to make your life better, in spite of all the obstacles in your way. As I said before, we're all here to help! With your determination and commitment, I KNOW you'll make it!

I definitely think I'm going to try that recipe tomorrow! Cook up some white rice with it and a vegetable and good to go 🙂 Thanks! And as long as I can commit to studying everyday then hopefully I won't have any issues. I just can't take a break or I won't go back. I have issues like that 😀

My plan sounds about identical to yours. Far in early July, Aud end of Aug, and then the last two in the next window. I finished my MBA last fall though, and have been procrastinating on taking the exam. 🙂 However, I have made it into module 13 in Yaeger but am freaking out if I'll be able to remember everything once I get to the end. Plus I'm starting to lose motivation already! Your crockpot ideas are a great tip though, thanks! Good luck to everyone!

Studying with Wiley Review, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja Audio.
    Retakes with Ninja MCQ only...awesome!

    Aud - 2/28 70, 8/14 83
    Bec - 4/10 80

Very similar calendar as yours. I think I'm finally over the mental shock of studying for FAR. Unfortunately I'm still in grad school until august, but I have my hours budgeted for the next several months and should be prepared well enough. Worst case, I retake next window. What did they say in boy scouts? Proper planning prevents piss poor performance!

Sounds like we all have the exact same schedule. This should be a good forum to stick to! I'm still only in Module 9A in Yaeger since I just started Monday but I went along with the lectures and now I'm going along with them again except pausing to do the notes and write flash cards. Doing P3-5 tonight taking notes then onto Module 9bcd the rest of the week. I plan on finishing all lectures and notes by 6/10 and then starting all over again for review and working the Wiley software. I actually made a full plan this time around and hope to stick to it. My expected FAR test date is July 16th (going to Disney June 25-July 4th and bringing my stuff with me!) then moving on to AUD for late August.

@kmwgrace – your crock pot receipe looks great, about how long do you think it would take to cook with frozen chicken?

And thanks for the link! I am going check them out.

@pacific1 – I cooked it from frozen the other day in about 3 hours, but I cut the chicken into 1/2″ slices first. If you have whole frozen breasts probably at least 4 hours but 6-8 would be better.

Feeling a little UN-motivated and depressed… went to do the homework questions and simulations last night for the stuff I started this week and I couldn't do them without peeking at the answer to get the process started. Wishing Jeff would give away a free audio lecture right about now! lol I wish

I started up my crockpot for the first time today! Yay me!. I did that recipe ^ for the chicken. Wish me luck! I was looking all over for a start button and I don't think mine has one lol. It just has the off, Keep Warm , Low and High dial. I evened rummaged through the booklet to make sure lmao. If dinner goes well tonight, I'm shooting for bacon wrapped apple bbq chicken tomorrow in the crock pot. Maybe we should start a Crock Pot topic so everyone can share their favorites 🙂

I'd like to say that I too plan on confronting FAR in early July, but I'm a first-time applicant and waiting on one final transcript before sending in ye ole application. If not July then August!

I'll be using Becker and supplementing with Ninja notes. I also work MCQ's on cpareviewforfree.com when I have unassigned time here at the office, it's an invaluable resource when you find even a few minutes to work some problems. Best of luck to all and happy studies?

I'm taking FAR first week of July. On F2 now (doing Becker). Soo much material already ahhh! I hope I can do it. I have a 2 year old son, and I start working full time at a Big Four firm in 3 weeks, so I'm not sure how it is going to go. Still waiting on my BEC score

    Good luck everyone!!

    REG - 2/28/2012 - Passed! 86
    BEC - 4/29/2012 - Passed! 82
    FAR - AFTER AUD
    AUD - JULY 2012
