Becker CPA Review Mock Exam Score vs Actual CPA Exam Score

I figured since so many people ask, it’d be easier to have it all in one thread for reference. Good idea?

Calculating this by taking the average MCQ*60% and average sim*40%

    Becker BEC Test # 1: 58
    Actual: 84

I got so upset by my practice results that I switched to rewriting my notes the night before the exam rather than do more multiple choice. I wonder why the variance between the practice exams and the actual is so large.

@GoingallinBecker's REG program prepared me VERY well for the exam! From practice exam #2 to actual exams, my average increase was 18+ points, and REG was tied for BEC with the largest increase. I felt their practice exams were VERY challenging for those two sections and are part of the reason I was able to drill on some concepts, because of how unsettling it was to see that I was getting some of the more challenging items wrong. The actual exams ended up being easier (with the exception of the bizarro left field questions I got on both exams that were nowhere in Becker).

    F - 91 (6/5/2016)
    A - 7/30/2016
    R - 10/8/2016
    B - 12/10/2016

Has anyone ever done worse on the actual exam than they did on the Becker final? My question is, I got a 72 on the FAR final, and I finished with 1 hour and 33 minutes to spare, while at work and distracted. I have my test tomorrow and I'm taking another final exam right now… But I barely finished the chapter on gov't. And from what I've seen you score a few points higher on the actual exam than you do the final. I'm starting to think my score might just be a fluke.

I can't remember my exact scores on FAR, BEC, and AUD as far as practice exams, but for REG, I got a 74 and 67 on the 2 Becker practice exams. I got an 80 on the actual exam, which is a bump of 9.5 on avg. I had substantial bumps in all exams except FAR, which I somehow perform 7-8 pts worse than the practice exams (but still passed).

I just received a passing score on Audit (87). While many of you are probably thinking “well he must be way smarter than me” – please take into consideration that I have been “tackling” this thing for well over 4 years. Take the practice exams!!! Don't lose confidence if you do poorly – it's MUCH better to do poorly on the PRACTICE test than it is to do poorly on the actual test!

Take one a week out, and another a day or two before. This gives you time to see your strong areas and see areas you may need additional work. STUDY the practice test. Not just the specifics of the answers you got wrong, but go to the book and reread the section to see get an understanding of anything that could be thrown your way on the exam. Understand WHY you got questions wrong. Take notes or make flash cards! Don't have time? MAKE TIME!!

I got an 87 on Audit and a 76 on the practice test. If you are over a 65 on the practice test, you are in striking distance. Give yourself a week or two to keep hammering it in and you will be fine. I find it funny that so many people on this thread comment and say “[Study Material] Sims didn't help at all, so many ‘left field' Sims on the actual test! Aud 82” lol clearly something worked!

    end rant.

    BEC

    Becker Final #1 – 71%

Becker Final #2 – Did not take since it is a confidence killer

    Actual – 75!

I honestly thought the test was different from what I practiced from Becker but I passed at the end of the day!

I was so discouraged after the final exams! But found this thread and felt slightly better, but still nervous! The second BEC final exam is killer by the way.

    BEC FINAL 1: 63
    BEC FINAL 2: 61
    BEC EXAM SCORE: 75

So excited to have passed! It gives me a boost of confidence to continue on (I failed REG by six points in November and four points in January ).
