Is it possible to study as much as you can and not pass ever? So, your not intelligent enough? I failed another section, I have never been close on a CPA test yet and I doubt if I can pas it no matter how hard I try. For the practice tests I pull 85% and I think the test is going to be easy, but every time I take it I bomb, never reaching in the 70s. I just don’t know what to do.

I think there are a lot of other factors, such as luck. I felt that I got a really weird REG test as far as the MCQs (had to make a lot of educated guesses), but ended up passing. There are several different versions of each test, so luck figures in which one you get.

There is also test anxiety. You can go in with a bunch of information in your head, and then suddenly you sit in front of that screen and it all goes out the window.

Make sure you aren't getting a high score on practice because you've memorized the answers to those questions. You have to know the concepts. Then you can apply them on any question.

I went from a 46 to 79 with a little over one month in between. Never did I think I could gain 30 points on FAR to have my first pass, but I did. Maybe you need a different study strategy. What I have learned in this short time of studying is that YOU have to figure out what works best for YOU. Not every persons study strategy will work for you. I changed mine a lot while studying this last time.

Failed FAR for the third time, I know its a crappy feeling but don't get hung up on it, I'm kinda numb to it now. I have REG on 8/30 and will be focusing on that for now. Hopefully I pass that and can focus on FAR again.

Maybe change up your study strategy, you do pretty well on MC questions but do you work sims? I feel that was definitely my downfall as I didn'te practice any.

There is certainly a heightened level of intelligence needed to comprehend what you're studying.

I think if you can meet the requirements to take the exam you can pass. You might need to hire a tutor and really work at it, but the education requirement should filter people to some degree.

if you're scoring high on practice exams but low on the actual exams, then you are probably memorizing the answers on the practice exams.

While I agree, I think the most important attribute needed to pass these exams is determination. If you put in the hours, and pump out multiple choice questions like it's your only mission in life, you'll pass.

I don't exactly consider myself a bright kid, yet have two parts down lol (out of 3 tries total)

I think this goes with the studying habit, second, I am not a big believer of using one source for studying and review MCQ. So that is why I used CPAexcel for studying but practice MCQ i'm using Ninja and WTB. The medicine for this exam is doing more MCQ. For AUD I did all Ninja MCQ, 90% of WTB and all CPAexcel.

Last understand the material. No shortcut.

I agree with the comment that if you can meet the prerequisites you can pass. I think some people pick the wrong review materiel (not everyone can pass using Wiley), some people rely too heavily on scores on practice tests (memorized a question set), some don't put in enough time and some get freaked out at Prometric. But if you've failed the same section multiple times something needs to change. On my 3rd AUD attempt I got the NINJA notes and copied them word for word three times. Don't underestimate something as seemingly small as rewriting your notes that one change can mean 13 points!

How many sections have you taken so far? Are you taking the same section over and over again?…Sometimes its good to put the material down and move on to other sections once you fail on your second attempt. It is the only way to get the concepts fresh once you revisit it, otherwise you will be memorizing and it doesn't help.

As I'm sure we all know here, this test is not easy so it does require some intelligence I guess.. But with that said…

This might sound cliché but I am a firm believer in ‘practice makes perfect'. The more you go over the material eventually you'll pick up enough material to pass the test. It may take longer for some than others but passing is passing no matter how many tries. YOU CAN PASS THIS EXAM!

You need to figure out what is the most efficient way for you to understand, memorize, and rationalize when trying to grasp these concepts. Look for trends and relations in study material, try to relate the material to your personal life, don't over think things, simplify, etc.

What I'm trying to say is find ways to make this easier for yourself. Yes, this is a hard exam but a lot of times we make it harder by trying to over do things. Every person is different and learns differently. A lot of times what helps me is thinking of concepts or problem as if it were me running my own business rather than viewing these concepts as random material I am trying to learn. TRY TO FIND THE EASIEST WAY TO MAKE THIS MATERIAL MEMORABLE FOR YOU. That works for me, it might not work for you but I'm sure there is something that works for you, you just have to find it.

YOU ARE NOT DUMB! The brain is like the body in the sense that if you exercise it will get use to exercise and it will improve and do it more efficiently the more you do it. STICK TO IT AND YOU WILL PERSEVERE!

Sure. Look, not everyone has equal mental abilities. I think you would have noticed by now if you were really terrible at academics. The truth is, if you were able to get through university, you can probably pass the CPA exam with enough effort.

More likely than not, you need a different study strategy. Get some different materials. Do not memorize MCQs. If you're going to memorize something, it should be rules and mnemonics from the text. Memorize flash cards. But don't memorize MCQs.

I really doubt it, honestly I think it's mostly the time you can put into it.

I'm lucky because I have no life, so I can put a lot of time into it, pass and score high. There's only so much they can do with the material, eventually if you put enough time in you can memorize a lot of it.

I figure there's two ways you can do it

(1) You're smart and know how to study the topic efficient

(2) You dump as much time into studying as you can

I go with method 2 🙂
