I love numbers!Member@Aishan – NOOO WAY you are giving up!! By the looks of your signature, you only have BEC left and you are DONE!!! I just failed BEC and I only have AUD passed…and I am not giving up!! You CAN do this!! I think they make this test to fail you…not like college at all….they want you to know this stuff to the T!!! Just study even harder than you ever have this time around…do not even schedule the test until you know this stuff like the back of your hand….and you WILL pass!

AishanParticipant@I love numbers ; Thank You for the encouraging words. My problem is I don't even know what should I read or the area I need to improve upon . I am using Wiley books, Yaeger , Becker and Gliem, I feel like I know all of what they cover in these books. I don't know what else I should do. I accept written communication is my weakness and I always get weaker in this area (I am a international student and English is not my first language) but this is something I can not improve overnight.

I love numbers!MemberHmmm…I understand.. Well, English is my FIRST language…and writing/grammar was alway my strong area growing up and in college…and guess what, I still got weaker in that! So don't let that bring you down. I think for writing, you should just at least attempt all three writings….and make sure to have an intro, middle, and conclusion….and just give it your best….but don't stress over that! As far as the MC part….it does sound like you are studying from a ton of diff. sources…but this time around, make sure you know this stuff like the back of your hand! As well as you know how to drive…it needs to be second nature to you….study until you want to kill someone (not literally, lol!!)…but just sayin'. Don't go in with a defeatist attitude…you can do this!! Also, there is another source….it is cpareviewforfree.com. I know many who love this site because you can practice MC questions for free…just need to register with user/email. Anyway, GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO IT!

StudyHardParticipant@Aishan, I am so sorry about your 74. I can feel your pain. : (
I am also weak in WC. In my case, my report shows all areas are stronger, except for IT and Operation Management is comparable, WC is weaker. My score was released this morning just like you so I think my score is “borderline”.
Based on my experience, I would suggest you:
1) Get your MC score (every area) as high as possible since during such a short period it’s hard to improve writing skill but you can improve a lot with MC during 2-3 weeks. When I practice Wiley test bank, average score I got is around 80-85 and I never practice WC.
2) Leave around 40- 45 mins for WC. When I took exam I only had 30 mins left for WC. For me, 30 mins wasn’t enough to put my thoughts together and write it down. So, I ran out of time. The last WC I only have 4 sentences: one sentence for the begging and ending, and 2 sentences for the 2nd paragraph. I didn’t even have time to click “complete exam”. The computer just closed the window by itself. : P (English is my second language so I need more time for WC ).

When-will-it-endMember@ Aishan
It is tooooo late for you to give up. You are only one point away from getting it all. I failed all mine twice, until recently–I passed Reg and Aud. This is the nature of the beast-sometime it gets you down and sometimes it wins-but ultimately and very soon you will get it all.
Now as a study plan. I have not taken BEC a third time yet. But I know my flows:
Since my concern is the writing portion, I plan to do a lot of writing with this one. This method will help you in three ways:
1. Typing Speed and typing anxiety
2. Business writing and organization
3. Reinforcing the material for multiple choice.
To learn writing format and organization, search “business letter samples” online. Notice the structure and the language used. Try to put this format into practice when you practice BEC writing. But always think business and when you read the BEC theory, think how and where it applies.
English is my second language and I have had to work a lot on learning to write it well. You will be able to make this just practice business writing.
Even the best get knocked down sometimes but they rise again not matter the challenge:)

AnonymousInactive@Aishan. just read your post that you are international student and weak on BEC writing part. Just let you know your writing part is graded by computer, not human. The computer is looking for key words regarding the topic of the exam question. Therefore, you need to produce as many key words as possible to collect points. You do NOT need superb grammers. Just use very simple sentences to connect the key words together. For each essay question, use one or two sentences to open and end your essay. The middle part is where you dump as many as key words possible. For instance, if the question is asking (just an example in my head at this moment, not from the actual exam) if a company should raise/lower the price of their products to earn more profile, the question is seeking for key words like “price eslastic, demands, substitution, competition, competitors, etc…the key is to tab as many key words as possible. your essay doesn't have to be cohensive or in good style…remember computers are dumb, they don't look at those stuffs…hope that help. FYI, English is not my first language as well, but I use this techique to get a comparable in writing part. In addition, a deep understanding of more difficult concepts like IRR and variances analysis is needed to pass this exam. Good luck on your next try. You are very close. don't give up.

jomarieParticipant@Ihate74 – have you tired supplementing NINJA notes, NINJA Audio, and Wiley Testbank. I really believe the NINJA notes and audio help me pass FAR. I'm planning on using them again for BEC.
Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!June 13, 2012 at 6:18 pm #355004
KGC111210Participant@ Ihate74 – I may not be much help since I used Becker, but I did rewrite some the more difficult multiple choice questions…and I mean rewrite the question and the answer and go back to the text and reread the part of the text that discussed the topic you missed on the MCQ. Also, if I missed a MCQ then I would read the correct answer and also read the wrong answer responses b/c these help you realize why it is not that answer. Also, if I saw an answer in the choice of answers that said words like “always and never” this was almost always never the correct answer. For the writing section I definitely followed the written communication instructions in the beginning of the Becker BEC section. Hope this helps; and I'm not trying to make it sound like I have all the answers b/c I barely scrapped by with a 75.

I rewrote EVERY single MCQ I did. I re-wrote the Ninja notes twice. I read the Wiley guide twice. When it comes to the WC, write everything you know about the topic. Also use freecpareview.com for more MCQ questions.
