In reply to your email and our earlier discussion please see the following outline:

Candidate procedures in the event now Tropical Storm Isaac has an adverse impact on the administration of the CPA examinations.

1a. If the site is closed and therefore appointments cancelled, Prometric (Outbound Team) will contact the affected candidates to assist them in rescheduling. However, due to conditions uncertainty there is no guarantee you will/can be contacted.

1b. If an extension of the NTS is required the candidates will be referred to NASBA.

    2. Candidates should contact Prometric for updates on the status of their test site location with respect to their appointment date. Test site closures are listed and updated at: http://www.prometric.com/sitestatus

    3. If the site is open candidates need to make an effort to attend the appointment providing their safety and well-being is not at risk.

    4. If the site is open and the candidate cannot attend due to safety and road/travel concerns, outages, etc., the candidate should contact NASBA via email (address: candidatecare@nasba.org) and provide:

    a) candidate’s name as it appears on the NTS

    b) section and 7 digit section ID number

    c) appointment date

    d) test site location

    e) a detailed outline of the circumstance which prevented attending the appointment

    f) weather verification to support the reason(s) for not being able to attend; which can take the form of links (or scanned documents) to adverse weather conditions in the area

    g) whether there is an NTS expiration issue.

NASBA will promptly investigate the candidate’s report and when verified provide support by assisting in rescheduling the appointment.

    5. At this time Prometric has given no indication of extending the current testing window.

We wish you the best as you continue in your professional development. If you have any further concerns or queries please let us know.

I didn’t know Prometric made the decision to extend a testing window but apparently they do and it looks like I’m heading south Friday morning.

    @Jeff or @Kricket or anyone…

Some posts above were implying that availability may really not exist…or we have to be directly affected by Isaac to reschedule. So are they saying that even though we may physically be able to reschedule on prometric's site, we may actually have our score rejected or something like that if we don't live in areas directly affected by Hurricane Isaac??

@LAcpaHope – I do not think that is the case. If you are able to reschedule then your score should be valid. I don't think they have the ability to extend the window for certain candidates without extending it for everyone, which is only fair. If I am not completely mistaken, when they extended the window a while back for a massive snowstorm in the Northeast, it was extended for everyone. Some things are out of our control.

I went back and re-read the e-mail I originally received and number 5 says that “Prometric had no plans to extend the window”. And the e-mail I got from them saying that the window had been extended said that it was a joint decision between the AICPA, NASBA and Prometric. I'm not sure who actually makes the determination, but it's done now.

@katiekanton, did you get the 9/7 release date from the NASBA representative or from the another71 release schedule? I noticed the another71 release date says 9/7, but I think they forgot to take labor day into account. The NASBA site says the score release is scheduled for 9/11, with the standard 1 business day in advance rule, the scores should be released on the 10th.

    @ CpaScrub – check out this thread I started….

    https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/jeff-please-clarify-the-score-release-prediction

Basically from what I understand, the AICPA released 2 different target release dates – one being 9/10 on a blog post and the other is 9/11 which is what's posted on their website. However, both say 6 business days after the close of the testing window which would be 9/11 meaning scores would start coming out on the 10th. Even after bringing this to Jeff's attention, he still thinks it's going to be 9/7. I hope he's right, but I'm definitely not going to get my hopes up for a Friday release unless the AICPA e-mails back and says 9/10 is their date.
