    @h0wdyus

    Incorrect

The answer is B. Comparable sales.

“The use of comparable sales is not an income approach to valuation of a business, it is a market approach. Under the comparable sales approach, the value of a business is determined by comparing it to other entities with comparable characteristics for which the value is more readily determinable.”

    This was a tricky one

I know this material well, having taken the CMA test, but I am still giving myself 2 months: until end of August.

I am not rushing the review and will not test until absolutely sure to pass.

Has anyone else on here using Becker, noticed that the Financial Management questions in B6 hardly resemble the material on Financial Management in the book?

@ Amanda_88: I noticed in the B6 financial decisions that the majority of the questions weren't covered in the material. I also thought the book did a terrible job on B6 financial valuations.

I took my BEC retake today. I either was more confident this time or my test was (dare I say) reasonable??? Of course, after my fail, I jumped right back in the studying and got 50 hours done in the past month. I hope my indifference doesn't mean I totally bombed this one.

Anyway, how does everyone else feel that's about to test? I know there are several retakers in here. My test seemed to be a fair amount of calculations. Probably 1/2 calcs and 1/2 conceptual. One of my sims topics was way out in left field. Hopefully they only look at my writing style and not my content!!!

@Zumba I'm pretty sure they don't really look at content for the BEC sims. I just listened to the Becker lecture on the writing sims yesterday and they said they look for technical content only so far as making sure you're addressing the correct topic. They're not looking for a right answer necessarily.

I kind of figured that. I got “stronger” on the WC from my first try at BEC and I totally BS'ed my way through 2 of the sims.

@zumba — I felt the same way when I retook audit. I think I was more prepared for the type of questions they were asking.

Question for those that have taken BEC — how many formulas were on the test? I am overwhelmed with the number that you are required to memorize.

I took BEC for the first time today. I feel exactly the same way as zumbasweet. Maybe I failed, who knows. But I thought this exam was not nearly as hard as the FAR exam.

Everything was covered on the exam but I felt the Ninja MCQ prepared me well. There was no surprise questions (doesn't mean I got them right).

Time to start studying for REG tomorrow. Hope I don't have to study BEC again.

as for time, I left 45 minutes for the written stuff. I was able to write all three but it was tight. Got bogged down on a couple of MC that I shouldnt have let slow me down.

FAR I couldnt gauge but if I was going to rate the MCQ progression I would say: laughable, medium, medium.

I'm hoping to get some clarification on EU when there is spoilage involved. Becker didn't really address it and I'm only running into problems with it on the Wiley Test Bank.

When there is normal spoilage, you would add that amount to the EU's for both weighted average and FIFO methods? How do you treat abnormal spoilage?

    Thanks!

Abnormal spoilage is a period cost.

Abnormal spoilage is treated as a period expense and therefore charged against income. Normal spoilage is part of inventory cost.
