I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

I feel a little paralyzed with fear on this exam…on the first go round, I did well on the sections that I was most shaky on while studying and did not do well on the topics I thought I had mastered…I guess I will start from scratch and re-learn every section

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71
FAR: 72, 78! Thank you God and my Mommy in Heaven!

Corporate Governance including all of the updates since 2011… DONE!

I'm just going to keep a little ongoing list of the topics I think will be important to review as I work through the material.

This will be a nice reference for my final review and it might help my BEC Study Buddies too!

For Corp. Gov. I pick— Frank Dodd and Whistleblower updates, Articles of Incorp v. Bylaws, roles and rights of shareholders v. Board v. Officers, COSO: Internal Control and Risk Management all that it entails 🙂

    Moving on to IT today!

I am soooo going to beat BEC!!!!

    @MCLKT and @1BENTCPA

I agree with MCLKT about the essays. I did my best to produce some beefy, well written paragraphs that discussed the topic thoroughly and I made sure I used proper spelling and grammar. I did not pass the BEC exams as a whole, but the grade report said that I “passed” the essay question portion, so I am relieved. I think that knowing the technical aspect will help you write a better essay, but you can still pass if you don’t know it as well. I think the essay question is a matter of good business writing, and all of us (having taken college courses) know how to do this, so no one should stress out about it. I am focusing on the MCQs and content. For those who are nervous about the essays, it should not be hard to practice your writing and have a trusted advisor review and give feedback.

    FAR Passed 5/28/14
    AUD Passed 1/22/13
    BEC Passed 7/12/13
    REG Passed 5/9/14

I also passed the written portion of the BEC exam, but failed overall. If you know how to write, it will just come to you. It's simple, you need an introductory paragraph, 2-3 paragraphs of the meat to answer the question itself and then a conclusion paragraph to close it out. I know for this BEC exam, one of my questions was way out there and I didn't remember learning a single thing about that topic, but I BSed my way through it and still wrote one heck of a memo to that board member. Too bad that didn't work on the multiple choice questions. So this time through I'm working on the MCQs.

I just scheduled BEC for August with AUD in July.

I'll have 8 weeks to study for BEC, and I”m hoping that will be enough time.

How many testlets are there for BEC? Number of SIMS? Number of MCQ's?

Thanks Monir. 3 written communications as “sims”…. that's different. I thought I remembered reading elsewhere awhile back that it didn't matter so much what you wrote as long as you have the form right. From what MCLKT said in a previous post, both writing skill and technical content are taken into consideration. bummer!
