Yup, lots of formulas, fortunately at least some of them are from FAR so they should be vaguely familiar. I think I'll just write them over and over again until I've memorized them, especially the financial/cost formulas, those are trickiest for me. I'm so not looking forward to cost accounting.
Is anyone practicing the writing portion? I feel like it's just so random, it's hard to practice something like that. Kind of like REG, you never know what you're gonna get. I didn't practice the writing part before I sat for the exam and don't think it would have helped me. My biggest concern is whether I'll know anything about the topics they ask.
Hi – I am planning to take BEC in April. I haven't scheduled yet though. This weekend will tell me if I'm ready or not but I need to be ready soon! I've gone through all the material and wrote the NINJA notes. I have 6 pages of formulas I now need to memorize and/or understand. Not sure what the best way to go about this is? Just google sample problems? and do them a few times? Any suggestions? Thanks!
I remember looking at like kind exchanges in FAR and thinking to myself “Man, I will never get this!” I realized it was something that could be tested so I wrote down the formula breakdown. At first it really sucked because I could not remember all of the steps I took. Then slowly it was so easy I could have begged for a whole test of those problems. I am planning on doing the same with BEC. I am going to write out the formula as I do each problem. I think this will help me memorize and get the formula down.
I get confused with IT's technical jargon and all the different computer languages – it's not easy to remember especially without mnemonics.
So Q2 13's BEC pass rate was 55.95. Let's bring it up to 60 this year! Someone mentioned that the BEC exam in Q1 of this year was more difficult than last year's. Hopefully the AICPA isn't trying to do anything insane like bring the pass rate down.
I'm actually kind of surprised. This feels like FAR in terms of Material. Extremely dense and jam packed. But working through Financial Management… I really need to notecard these formulas.
I think it's just matter of really focusing on the material. Getting sleep is huge for me. All of sudden it's starting to come full circle. Around a 90 average using Wiley, have one more chapter left. Planning on buying Ninja notes and then reading that on the train everyday for a month lol.
