I'm thinking of taking it 2-3 weeks after 4/15. I started studying for about 6 weeks before busy season caught up. I'm thinking I'll jump straight to my ninja notes and wiley test bank and do the usual 10,000 mcqs and literally memorize the testbank. I figure hey, if it worked for audit and reg.
NYC, I thought of taking the exam next month too but I haven't been in serious study mode lately and don't want to risk being under-prepared. It's a really nice to change to have such a thin book for BEC, isn't it? I've been watching Yaeger lectures again and refining my notes, but haven't gotten into doing MCQ's yet.
Does anyone here do the practice tests at the back of the Wiley book? Are they different questions than what's in the chapters? For the IT section, I plan on referring to an IT book I saved from my college days.
Juliemiddle, thanks for the tips. It's really helpful too if you can type quickly. I spent less than 30 minutes for the writing portion when I first took the exam but that also depends on the topic difficulty.
Well since BEC defeated me the first time around…i'm joining here, hoping to use it as a good resource. I plan to take it again early in May. I'm going to try audio this time to see if that'll give me the extra push I need.
The motivation is also lacking…lol, need to start studying again!
BEC - Defeated me...with a score so horrid i care not to mention it. Retake 5/14
AUD - TBD
REG - TBD
FAR - TBD
This is one of my first few posts here on A71. It is nice to see a crowd working towards a common goal and hearing about their experiences. I was hoping some could lend their opinion about my proposed strategy for BEC, which I will be taking in May.
I have purchased the Wiley test bank, now Wiley CPA Excel or something similar. I am planning on completing those multiple choice questions completely before exam day. I have a 2013 BEC Wiley Exam Prep book, but from the looks of it, it has the same questions as the test bank online. I also have a Gleim 2013 BEC prep book which has textual material I can read for information. I also have the A71 note cards and notes for BEC. I am not sure if the Blitz videos would be very helpful. My concern is I have no real lecture videos for the material like what comes with Becker and many of these packages.
Do you think these the tools I have are enough to pass BEC with a main focus on the Wiley Test Bank questions. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
I am planning on a late April (or maybe mid-May) BEC date. I am hoping I will be ready by late April so I can try to get this behind me.
I'm using CPAExcel and Wiley Test Bank. I may purchase Ninja Notes as well; they were helpful with some issues in FAR.
I'm through Corporate Governance and about halfway through Economics. I'm happy that I have retained some Econ knowledge from my b-school days since I've been out of school for a while. Dreading IT and some of that stuff.
But at least it's a change of scenery. I was so sick of looking at FAR stuff that new material almost feels interesting. (For now…)
Dylan, can you pass with what you have? Absolutely…but it depends on your learning style. For me, I think the videos helped tremendously. Not sure if I could have passed without the lectures or not but I wasn't willing to risk it. You have the WTB which is key , ninja notes and flashcards which are also key and both Gleim and Wiley book (note: I'm just getting into BEC but on my other three exams I've taken only some of the book questions were similar but there were lots that were different so you might want to double check that). As far as Blitz videos go, Jeff posted a link to the IT Blitz videos a few posts back. Check that out and see if you like it. I'm using Yaeger and love it.
I am just starting my BEC study. I have never studied this section before. Thoughts on getting all of these formulas down? There are just so many of them!
How is the studying going for everyone? I was feeling good until I hit equivalent units of production. At that point my brain was just tired, so I called it a night.
