I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

titoav15: i believe that for the Kode question that you posted before, the answer is in fact “Gross margin increases by $1 for each unit of May sold.” just to give you a heads up since you posted that the answer was “ANSWER: Gross margin increases by $3 for each unit of May sold”

im specifically referring to question CPA-03503 if youre using becker

I am really tired of Cindy (Yaeger) mentioning that the sections should be taken in a particular order and BEC should be taken last. Ridiculous!

    @scarletknight91:

mjp44 gave a pretty good explanation. Transaction exposure relates to specific transitions, e.g. gains/losses as a result of settling A/P or A/R denominated in foreign currency. Economic exposure is from participating in economy as whole, including changes in cash flows. Translation exposure relates to consolidation of foreign subsidiaries.

Super CPA…I use Yaeger and what she says isn't ridiculous at all! Can u pass with a different order? Sure you can but there is a method to her madness. The exams play on one another…

    #558325

Yeah I get there is some overlap of material but to me the order should be more tailored to individual skillset. My personal strategy was to start with hardest (same reasoning everybody else does) then the easiest at end of first window. Then second hardest at end of window two so you can retake early window three if needed and finish off with third hardest end of window three. I think that gives you the best odds of knocking out half the exam in one window, while allowing you to stay on track in case you fail #3.

@Casagarbar. It is indeed true that there might be some overlapping topics but that doesn't mean that she needs to repeat that all the time. It would be helpful to take it in the order she suggests but it isn't mandatory. I scheduled those exams after a lot of contemplation. What she should say (2 times max) is that it would be helpful for you to take these exams in this order. I like her, don't have anything against her but she should not be saying it like that.

@letters. That is exactly what I thought. Moreover I do have some things coming up (at work and personal stuff) that I need to cater to hence my exam schedule.

Hey Guys hope everyones studying is going well. I'm using Becker and Wiley to prepare for the exam and honestly do not know where I stand in regards to the material.

I've been getting 85s to 90s on Becker progress tests and have only taken the first final exam in Becker so far…my scores for 3 test-lets averaged out to an 83. The problem is when I get to Wiley I am getting about 70 percent or lower on the questions and having a much harder time with the material. There is plenty of topic in Wiley…which aren't covered in Becker at all.

I wanted to find out if anyone else was having a harder time with one program over another…did anyone feel as if the actual exam was easier than the practice exams??

I am taking my test in 2 weeks….any advice on areas to focus on…COSO? Variances?

Jsingh – I agree with you completely! I feel Wiley questions are harder and cover different material than Becker does. I scored lower on Wiley for both audit and reg and now bec is following suit. It used to bother me and make me feel unprepared but now I feel the complete opposite! Every “wth is this” Wiley question we see is one less “wth is this” exam day question we will see. I couldn't have passed audit without Wiley and feel the same with bec! Good luck to you!

Sorry the formatting on this chart is terrible, but it's a solution from Becker… Where in the world does the 104,000 EU from the units started in the period come from and what is SQZ? How can you start 100,000 and the EU is more than that? 104% completed?

    ActualUnits %Complete EU TotalCost UnitCost

    Beginning Inventory 16,000 60% 9,600 $54,560

    Add: Started 100,000 SQZ 104,000 468,000 $4.50 FIFO

    Total Available 116,000 113,600 522,560 $4.60 wtd-avg

    Less: Completed (92,000) 100% (92,000)

    Ending Inventory 24,000 90% 21,600 $97,200 $4.50 FIFO

Wow – I never actually looked at the answer description in the back of the book – that's way confusing and totally not necessary to answer that question!

I think the explanation is just showing you both ways, the FIFO method and the WA method. If you take the $468,000 total cost for the units started that period and divide it by the $4.50 unit cost (which you can only get by solving the problem using the FIFO method, which isn't even being asked in this question), you will get the $104,000 EU. Very confusing and not needed to get the solution.
