I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

24 per testlet!! oh my goodness, I didn't know that! I was expecting 30 and was really worried about the time crunch. That means 72 total questions, 40 of which would be computational. I can do this.

Repicked up chapter 6 today: P/E ratios, PEG, etc. Glad I'm doing it because I completely forgot about these ratios.

Still having some difficulties on variance – often I can get to the right answer, but its 5 minutes later and a whole lot of extra unnecessary computations. Lots of time wasting in there.

rvcpa: I've used a word doc since my 2nd test. The first test I took (REG), I didn't think about it and had HAND COPIED all the questions I had missed. Each night then, I went through those stupid hand written questions. So far I've passed each test on the first try. My worry though is the numerous comments about this test having material on it that wasn't in the review materials.

NYAccountant and CPAOneDayHopefully – both of you are inspirations! Fearless leaders leading the way!

I'm so burnt out – I know my journey has only been 6 months (the CPA testing part) but its been one hell of a road. I'm looking forward to coming home after work at night and staring at the walls.

@Quinacridone Just keep in mind every test is different. So you may get 75/25 theory questions – you never know!! I'm excited for you to destroy BEC tomorrow and be done with these tests!!!! The fact that you were able to complete the process in 6 months is very very impressive. Good luck!!! (but I don't think you'll need it)

For Variance, just read the last sentence to see which one they are looking for, then look within the question for the numbers you need. I did not even read the full question on the exam, just the last sentence and then looked for what I needed lol. @CPAOneDayHopefullay Is correct, I had a lot of theory questions. I had more theory than computational. I'll say probably 70-30 to be honest. My computational questions though required multiple calcs to get to the answer. Nothing simple.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

is it a bad idea to wait until i go through all the chapters and then begin to look at the writing section examples? im no future novelist but i can write sufficiently and understandably. any thoughts on this because so far ive focused on the content of chs 1-3 in becker one week into studying

Hi – sorry if this has already been discussed but I can't find the thread. Has anyone purchased the new NINJA MCQs? I am taking BEC on 5/17 and using CPA Excel right now. From what Jeff says about the product it seems like it would cover more MCQs that I am covering now since CPA Excel seems to repeat a lot of questions. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

    AUD - passed
    BEC - retake in July

shoot…tomorrow night I am going to be drunk off my keester. (actually I won't, hate the feeling – but I'm definitely coming home and having something that is going to make me forget this stupid test).

I'm doing the AICPA released questions: reminder everyone: go find them on the internet and do them. I have a set of MCQs from each year since 2008. If they are like the test, they will give you a really good feel for the test questions and help you see how much your brain will forget after your Cinco de Mayo margarita (I only had a few sips, but I need to blame my demise on something).

I've got variances down now. Yeah (and thank you NYAccountant: last sentence first and fill in the blanks technique worked). And a reasonable comprehension of foreign currencies and transaction/translation issues. Hedging I'm better at than I was last week (please don't make me write an essay on it, that would be bad). Corporate governance and COSO I could walk my way through a memo if I had to. I'm going to do a few more chapter 3 financials before bed to shore that up. I did not do a progress test tonight since I appear to be consistently scoring well in Becker. Ninja is another story (goodnight, some of those questions are TOUGH!). I'll do a quick Ninja MCQ set in the morning before I leave.

IT: God, help me. If I get an essay question at all related to IT, it will start out as: IT stands for Information Technology. Information Technology specialists are your best resource for anything IT related. The end. Let me know if you need anything else.

Jes7879 – I don't have CPAexcel, however, I can tell you that the Ninja MCQs have some pretty tough questions. I do see repeated questions (even ones that I have gotten correct), but that doesn't bother me as I feel it reinforces learning. I think once you get passed a certain number of questions answered, then the test bank starts picking up on your weaknesses and tests you in those areas more heavily.

Unfortunately for me, the test bank did not come out until last week, while I was at training on a secured military base. The network security would not let me use the test bank after 2 days. Now that I'm home, it is working fine, however, I've run out of time. If I have to repeat this test, I will only use the test bank and Jeff's book: they are that good.

scarletknight91: I pushed through the videos and have done very little on writing. I tend to be a good writer so as long as the subjects are ones I know something about, I feel I'll be okay. My opinion is that it is more important to know the concepts and formulas which you get from the book/lectures and MCQs.

Quinacridone, Best wishes for your test tomorrow. Please let us know how it went.

24 questions per testlet is not bad. But 4 min/question is bad! And I still have to work on WCs. I'm thinking to postpone my exam to the end of this month.

Well took my first progress test in BEC, ended up with a 75. It was better than I expected 🙂 Am I overjoyed about this, thoughts? I have about 2 weeks for review still by the way.

BEC: 5/21/14 82! PASSED HALF WAY THERE!
    FAR: 4/2/15 80! Almost there!
    AUD: 69, 74, 4/3/14 81! PASSED
    REG: TBD

    #558245

titoav15, by progress test you mean a practice final exam or you did a compilation of random questions? also how many questions. i usually try to shoot for the 80s personally but a 75 is passing and in the end thats what matters most

    FAR: PASSED
    REG: PASSED
    AUD: PASSED
    BEC: PASSED

    DONE
