I am taking BEC May 29th. I will start studying once REG is over (tomorrow!). Hope this one isn’t too bad!

Is there any major changes from the 2009 Becker books in the 2010 version?

I'm considering taking REG and AUD both in the next window. I know a lot of people on this forum double up in each window, and I'm wondering what kind of commitment it takes time/effort wise. Please advise based on the following.

    Situation:

    1. I'm in audit

    2. Tax does not come naturally to me, but B-Law does

    3. I put in 80-100 hours or so (each) on FAR and BEC. Did fine on FAR, feel pretty confident I did fine on BEC

    4. 50-55 hour weeks until September then dropping off to consistent 40 until January

    5. 5 month old

    6. My television is broken (this is slowly becoming a huge plus)

Any advice is welcome, and your personal experience with these sections is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Drizz,

I have some similarities to your situation: in audit, not very natural with tax, have two little children. For me, AUD was the easiest part to study and pass (art history major all my life). You basically need to memorize bunch of concepts and reports. I passed it with 50 hours put in, right out of college.

Now, REG – you see I'm struggling. I noticed that they tend to test the hardest taxation concepts on REG not really touching Business law much.

I would approach it very systematically, and whichever plan you come up with – stick to it (looking at your FARE grade – you have no problem with that). It only becomes difficult when you start slacking, procrastinating etc. As for amount of hours – seems like you've got more than enough to ensure passing grade.

    Drizz,

I have a 7 yr old, work only 40 hrs/week, watched tv maybe once a week for two hours, but then the rest of my focus was on REG and AUD. I started studying for REG on 3/1 and took the test on 4/17…Then I began studying for AUD on 4/20. In the midst of all this my grandfather died on 4/6, I was his primary care giver…I still haven't finished giving away his things…anyhoo the funeral was 4/19…I am saying all of this to say..yes you can totally do it. REG is my first pass since starting this process back in January.

I have to agree with anna about B-Law, I remember some ?'s but not a whole lot. I never noticed if the test became harder, it all appeared the same to me. I did use Jeff's notes, becker's note cards, and a webinar from Club 75.

AUD – Studying began 4/20…took test on 5/28. Again, I never noticed if the test became harder, it all appeared the same to me. I did notice 5-10 ?'s that were verbatim from the becker test bank. I took the time to memorize the std, compilation, and review reports. I memorized an outline of the structure of each modified report, and I memorized the mneumonics. I wrote them all down before I started ? # 1 and I constantly referred back to the outline of each modified report and the mneumonics. I am now patiently waiting for my score while I buckle down for my BEC retake.

Hope this helps!…and best of luck to you

    IL - BECKER=============> DONE
    REG - 80; FAR - 65,79; AUD - 53,78; BEC - 71,68, 75 (used becker and yaeger for 3rd BEC)Ethics 95

I'M GONNA CELEBRATE AND LIVE MY LIFE SAYING AYE OH BABY LETS GO!!!!!

Hello everyone! I have a question for you guys.

Took BEC on May in Arizona, and I am waiting for my score as many of you….

My question is.. there is a place where I could go to check for my score or do I have to wait for an email to be sent?

I know every state is different.. but can't find how is the process for Arizona candidates.

Thanks in advance and good luck to all of you!

It seems that it does. FAR is my last section, I failed it in February with a 74. When using the Ohio loophole just after taking the exam back in February, I had a message that all of the exam sections were currently in progress, but few days before the official score release on NASBA's website, the Ohio loophole allowed me to register for FAR. Now again, I am getting the message that all my exam sections are currently in progress.

Has anyone received any scores yet for BEC or has the loophole worked for anyone for Wave 2? I'm hoping scores get released tonight!

Aleal – any reason why you think tonight, or is that your hope? Because I hope tonight is the night too….

    aleal81 & airhol2 –

Sorry to be a downer, but the AICPA has to release to NASBA before the Ohio Loophole will work. Jeff normally posts the number of scores released for the section after the AICPA releases them. Then, NASBA has 24-48 hours to upload the scores into the system. Thus, if the AICPA releases scores today, the earliest NASBA would release is tomorrow – usually after 10PM eastern.

Best of luck! I am hoping for a BEC release today so FAR will release ASAP!
