BEC just killed me!

I just got done taking BEC today and all I can say is wow that was hardest exam I took out of the four. I didn’t take BEC lightly when I started studying for it, but that exam kicked my @$$. There were a ton of conceptual MCQs that came out of left field in the first testlet, and the second testlet was much easier (not a great sign). The SIMs were straight from hell and I barley had enough time to put some words down for the written communications. Not to mention that my computer shut down during the third testlet (restarted okay but just my luck). Did anybody else come out of BEC feeling like they didn’t even come close to passing and still passed? Will now have to wait over a month for the score release.

    FAR - 82   (8 Wks, 181 Hrs, 1,928 MCQs, 130 Sims)

    AUD - 85  (4 Wks, 83 Hrs, 1,751 MCQs, 78 Sims)

    REG - 81 (4 Wks, 95 Hrs, 1,274 MCQs, 41 Sims)

    BEC - 88 (4 Wks, 96 Hrs, 1,502 MCQs, 23 Sims, 5 WCs)

I had a similar experience with BEC and ended up passing. I basically had to take educated guesses all throughout the first testlet. The second testlet was much easier and more in line with my study materials. Sims were ok, but I ended up running out of time on the last WC. I just knew I had failed and was planning my retake. I checked my score and was suprised to see that I made a 75. My advice to you is to not think too much about it. BEC’s pass rate it 61% so you should be okay.

Pardon responding tracytrinh since the message is for Tony just wanted to give an unfortunate heads up. It's to my understanding that we all cannot share any CPA info content because the AICPA checks forums and they would not be happy. Tony will confirm with you and I am.sure he can provide good advise and respond to your other question. I have never seen anyone either here, in Youtube, or anywhere sharing specific contents on what is in the exam. Everyone does offer great advise though. Its unfortunate about not divulging info, but that's the rule of the game and we have to respect it.

Hey tracytrinh: the only advice I can give about the writing portion is to have a broad understanding of the BEC topics and you'll be fine. I'm a slow writer so my biggest issue was allocating enough time to effectively get my thoughts out and reread what I wrote. The MCQs and Sims just killed my time so I would say managing your time is more important than the actual topics. As far as IT, I used CPAexcel and the IT portion was great and had a lot of info, but IT is a weak section for me so I wished I studied it more. My advice is don't take IT lightly and try to study it as much as you can!

@Stony – I took BEC a year ago and got my butt kicked with the first testlet. The second testlet was easier and the SIMS and WC weren't too bad. I passed, so keep your head up!

I felt the same way when I took BEC. I thought I was going to have to retake for sure, but I passed.

Have faith in yourself. Best of luck on your score release!

It's so funny to me how different this process is from person to person in regards to which exam is the hardest! BEC was my easiest one by a long shot.. All that goes to say, and this is really advice for myself, don't think about it too much and don't beat yourself up. Go make REG your *****!

For me AUD was easiest. I was certain I did very well on it and yet it was my worst score so far. Go figure.

^^^ hahaha same for me Tim. I would have 100% told you I did best on AUD of all the exams after I walked out. It only took me 1.5 hours, and I really expected a 97-99. Guess you never do know lol

Yep, I thought AUD was easiest, thought for sure I nailed it, and it was my lowest score so far. I'm taking BEC on Saturday (11/10), and this post is freaking me out! I think I need to stay off the forum this week…

There is a lot of people that say their computer shut down in the middle of the exam. Does that count towards your exam time?
