AnonymousInactiveSorry for not having thoughts together
prospective financial statements are ones where you compile a financial statement assuming x, y, and z would happen right?
Pro Forma is assuming that something happened a while ago when in reality it didnt?
Projection is basically trying to create an accurate forecast of a financial statement?
Is pro forma also SSAE?

AnonymousInactiveCan someone explain AS 17 for me and what changes in regards to question/answers
If I am understanding it correctly it means supplementary information is to be audited now instead of limited procedures?
January 24, 2015 at 3:05 pm #650467
AnonymousInactiveAS-17 Introduction… “The Board is adopting Auditing Standard No. 17, Auditing Supplemental
Information Accompanying Audited Financial Statements (the “standard”). The standard
sets forth the auditor's responsibilities when the auditor of the financial statements is
engaged to perform audit procedures and report on whether supplemental information
accompanying the financial statements is fairly stated, in all material respects, in
relation to the financial statements as a whole. The standard supersedes AU sec. 551,
Reporting on Information Accompanying the Basic Financial Statements in AuditorSubmitted
Documents. The Board also is amending certain other related PCAOB
auditing standards.”
https://pcaobus.org/Rules/Rulemaking/Docket036/PCAOB_Release_2013_008.pdf
My interpretation… when auditing financial statements AS-17 states the auditor should apply certain audit procedures for the financial statements “simultaneously” to the supplementary information to increase efficiency… As far as the report on the “S.I.” goes, I think it is mainly for the auditor to ensure that the “S.I.” is consistent with the financial statements – due to the “S.I.” being an important part of the financial statements. Also, unless I'm misunderstanding – when supplementary information presented with financial statements departs from GAAP or is inconsistent with requirements the auditor would add an emphasis of matter paragraph.
Also, Sunni – your question earlier about “Why can an attest engagement to examine and report on nonissuers internal control be distributed but an auditors report on significant deficiencies has to be restricted?” I think this has to do a lot with the users understanding of the report and its implications. I believe reports on significant deficiencies are always addressed to client management with a disclaimer. The auditors report on internal control includes written communication over identified significant deficiencies and material weaknesses but that is not the main purpose of the report. There is a simulation in the Becker homework (A5 – Sim3) similar to this discussion.

MartinParticipantHave you guys practiced the 2013 and 2014 AICPA released questions? I think there are about 50 for each year. Are they too easy?

MartinParticipanttami, I got 90 on both so I guess there are not a good measurement. I have been getting around 85 on WTB and Beckers simulations. When I do the ninja mc, I get from 70 to 75,so it seems that ninjas questions are harder than WTB.

ruggercpa2bParticipantI remember seeing at least 3 or 4 questions that were word for word from the AICPA released questions. They are definitely worth looking over.

ruggercpa2bParticipantI know Becker has them posted if you have Becker, that is where I got mine from. I am not sure if those are accessible to people who do not have Becker. You may have to do some digging on google or try searching on the forum. I just did a search of the AICPA released questions and a lot of links came up. I do not really want to click on any because I am on my work computer. You may have to do some digging on the interweb.

AnonymousInactive@CTM- No there is another guy (Peter something or other) that does sections 4 and 5.
For everyone else- quick question about the research simulation- do you get partial credit if you get part of it correct. For example, I just did a practice Sim that was AU-C A13, and I selected something very close (12 or something like that). Do I get partial credit for that or is it counted completely wrong? Or is this something that is unknown?
Thanks!

AnonymousInactiveI've been told that it is all or nothing for a research sim. If you don't get everything correct you don't get any credit. Again, that's just what I've been told on this forum.

AnonymousInactive@CTM – when you get to the other AUD lecturer (Brown?) get ready for a nap, the guy is the worst to listen to. (IMO)

AnonymousInactiveWonderful. I'm already fighting to stay awake through these things much less trying to actively listen.
