Does anyone have any helpful tips on Becker Chapter 4 – Audit Evidence and Transaction cycles?

I'm getting absolutely killed on the MCQ, and am finding myself guessing on most. I already watched the lectures and read the book, but something isn't clicking.

    FAR: 85(11/22/2014) - Becker(full)/Ninja MCQ (5 day cram)
    AUD: 79 (2/1/2015) -Becker/Ninja MCQ/Ninja Notes
    REG: 84(4/19/2015) -Becker/Ninja MCQ/Ninja Notes
    BEC: 83 (7/13/2015) -Becker/Ninja MCQ/Ninja Notes

@Troblin That was by far my weakest section when doing the homework/tests. I kind of memorized who did what by repeating the questions so many times. I also payed attention to the Authorization, Record keeping, and Custody. When you're presented with a question about that just remember that those should always be done by separate people.

That's funny because am getting killed in the same section too! That stuff sucks, there's got to be an easier way to remember who does what and which evidence supports what function.

One last thing, can you please tell me where I can locate other AU publications like the one you've provided. I would like to gain a better understanding by actually reading the Audit process as opposed to trying to just memorize MCQ's.

    Thanks in advance.

It looks like this is your first test so use the simulations to your advantage too. You can use the codification to research whatever simulation you're presented with. That's all 6 of them for the most part. Get used to looking up/finding specific items. It could save your score.

I usually try to identify what assertion pertains to each MCQ option and eliminate it for the transaction cycles. I'm not sure what to tell you about the internal control roles. Those can all go to hell.

I would definitely know the roles for the revenue cycle at least. This area is stressed because revenue is ALWAYS a high risk area. IJS……

Oh, I hated studying audit. It was so boring and I thought I bombed the exam. I went home and started studying to take it again in Jan. It gets really tough.

    @acctaks and every else. Thanks.

I'll keep plugging away at memorizing the different operating cycles and components of segregation of duties… ugh.

    Hey everyone,

What have your experiences been with Chapter 4 in Becker? I just finished the multiple choice for it and did pretty bad compared to all of the other chapters thus far. Bad as in 65-72% for the subsections except for Evaluating Audit Findings.

Anyone else experience this? Pretty hard chapter to wrap my head around but hopefully it starts clicking the second time through…

@agile321. I think you're doing well with 65-70% on Chapter 4 for your first run through. I'm on the exact same section right now and am scoring in the 40-50% range.. lol.

I wouldn't necessarily memorize the roles in chapter 4. It's more important to work the questions and become comfortable with them. If you work them enough and follow up on why you got answers wrong then you'll naturally get better at them and understand that chapter better. The thing I noticed in the exam is that you can't really change the test questions from the practice questions too much. You may even see them verbatim. Use your brain cells to memorize the different types of engagements, the level of assurance they get, required communications, format of communications, etc.
