Hi all of my Auditing class of 2013 Ninjas!

Is there a study group topic for Jan/Feb 2013 yet?

If not, can we start one?

I have scheduled my exam for 1/11. This is my second try (73 in Aug. 2012). Tonight I am going to take a mini practice exam to see what I remember and get and idea of my weak spots. And tomorrow I begin re-watching Yaeger vidoes. The entire timeline is to work book questions as I go through each module. Wrapping up the last video by Dec 14. And will do nothing but review, review, review until 1/10. Oh, and take my holiday vacation at the end of December, yikes!

What review material are you using? When is your exam? What topics have you covered? Any tips yet?

@mypetmeatball, yes, I do re-read my book as part of my final review. I know not everyone does. Personally, I think it ties everything together for me (otherwise everything gets compartmentalized and you lose sight of the overall picture), and it definitely plays a huge role in refreshing my memory about the stuff that I haven't touched for a few weeks. However, I try and be very careful not to get bogged down in it. For example, when I re-read A4, I definitely did not read every word of every transaction cycle, as I know that would just be too much to remember. Instead, I focused on the big picture.

Personally, I think it helps to supplement the flashcards. Your flashcards may help you learn ULIARCPA, but the book will give you the supporting detail you need to make it useful. I definitely think the key is the MCQs, but I find the book a helpful tool as well.

Wow, thanks for the really thorough help guys. I am taking the exam the same day as you @whatamidoing. You are so far ahead of me it's not even funny. I have yet to do A-5 and A-6 and I have two huge exams for school this week. I'm going to try really hard to rush through 5 and 6 in the next few days.

The Professional Responsibilities section (A-6) is really annoying. How is everyone else studying for this? Just getting down the basics? The rules/standards seem pretty homogeneous across the different organizations.

It is down to the wire for me as I have my exam in two weeks. I am reviewing the books, working multiple choice questions, and listening to audio Ninja as well as Audio Yaeger. What is usual for me is that concepts start ‘clicking' during my last two weeks of review and I always wish that I had more time. I am also doing the Wiley Online test bank for practice. @GreenMonkey I agree. One of the major concepts is ‘independence' and the idea that an auditor should not ‘review their own work' and have a relationship with a client that would influence objectivity. Does the Auditor ‘need' the client to do good for their own personal benefit? If so, avoid the involvement. And there are some concepts you have to memorize. I know the standard auditor's report by heart. Yay!

On A-4 today. Second time review, much better MCQs results than the first time around, but gosh this chapter is so darn dragging on and on.

Alright, back to those MCQs 🙁

Bring on the caffeine. My test is Tuesday – Today is Friday, took today off & have Monday as a holiday – pushing kids & hubby out the door and I am going to be locked in my office until 9 am Tuesday morning. I recommend not getting too good of a whiff… it will most likely smell like cheezits, coffee, and sweet tarts (chewy) & spearmint gum in here.

If you see me posting on here – – send me back to the books.

I decided to take the first Becker practice test before starting my review (exam in less than a week now!)

    I scored:

    MC 1: 86

    MC 2: 90

    MC 3: 80

    Risk: 90

    I/C: 80

    Tickmarks: 87

    Statistical Sampling: 90

    Comparative F/S: 87

    Government: 40 LOL

    Research: 100

A6 was the section that I most recently covered yet that is where I lost a majority of my points. How did everyone else approach gov't auditing? Do I just need to memorize this stuff? With normal auditing, it seems mostly like common sense… but that doesn't seem to apply to governmental auditing.

Finally finished all of the material….finally review time. Unfortunately, I have an extremely important exam on Tuesday so studying will be really minimal over the next two days, which leaves me only 8 days for review! Ugh

My tentative schedule will be as follows:

1/18 Doing other stuff – 30 question progress test

1/19 Doing other stuff – 30 question progress test

    1/20 A1 HW, Sims — Progress test

1/21 A2 HW, Sims, Progress test

1/22 A3 HW, Sims, Progress test

1/23 Continue A3, Take first practice exam

1/24 A4 HW, Sims, Progress test

1/25 A5, HW, Sims Progress test

1/26 A6 HW, Sims, Progress test

    1/27 2nd Practice Exam

I feel really unprepared. When I took REG I made sure to continuously do Progress Tests so the beginning modules didn't go cold — I haven't done that at all this time. Everything is really jumbled up in my head.

I really give credit to people who claim to walk into AUD feeling like they know everything; there is a lot of info that blends together for me. I hope this exam is as forgiving as people act.

How are you guys approaching preparing for the AUD sims? Are you just hammering MC and prepping yourself on the concepts or are you doing a lot of sims? I feel like in my past exams practice sims didnt really mirror the actual ones as far as comparability in difficulty. Maybe a better idea just to feel comfortable with the concepts? Any advice?
