Hi all of my Auditing class of 2013 Ninjas!

Is there a study group topic for Jan/Feb 2013 yet?

If not, can we start one?

I have scheduled my exam for 1/11. This is my second try (73 in Aug. 2012). Tonight I am going to take a mini practice exam to see what I remember and get and idea of my weak spots. And tomorrow I begin re-watching Yaeger vidoes. The entire timeline is to work book questions as I go through each module. Wrapping up the last video by Dec 14. And will do nothing but review, review, review until 1/10. Oh, and take my holiday vacation at the end of December, yikes!

What review material are you using? When is your exam? What topics have you covered? Any tips yet?

Umm… I don't think Roger covered Kiting at all – but I just looked it up to familiarize myself with it.

from the auditor perspective, all you want to do is to prepare schedule of bank transfers (bank-bank) and compare with books (i.e. date check was written and deposited, etc). Usually this is done by making simple four column spread sheet and as always, we are looking at the cut-off dates to notice “gaps” or discrepancies between draws & deposits.

my exam is on feb 6th. scoring between 65 and 70%. what's the best way to bring my score up?

should i keep doing mc's? work on sims? i'm done with lactures went thru becker and now doing mc's from wiley.

taking notes now hurts! takes away too much time. i have notebooks full of notes from the previous 2times i tried this section and from this review.

Anyone else using Becker self-study feel like they were being PUNK'd while working on the quality control multiple choice questions in A-2?

4 of the 13 questions were the same. “Minimize the likelihood of associating w/ clients whose management lacks integrity.”

Either that's a point that they really don't want us to forget or they are lacking quality control in relation to their multiple choice question selection.

GreenMonkey – Noticed the same thing for sure. There's a lot of repeats in audit, but that should be a good thing (hopefully). I'm finding the mnemonics utterly useless for this section as well. For FAR they were extremely helpful, but with AUD I'm finding it easier just to logically think about the answers rather than try to remember some of Gearty's nonsense.

I am using 2011 materials becker & wiley & yeager (far) and I passed FAR in Nov. Check their websites for links to updates – they will be available without registering & there are some new videos on youtube from various yeager/roger/etc… touching on updates – just search. i felt my materials were very thorough for the test.

I think I gained 15 pounds studying for far – so I've had to change ALL my study habits – & work habits & more to get this “study weight” – between work & studying I feel like I sit all day long… anyone else gain weight during cpa prep?

A-2 in Becker is so boring. I just skipped it in my review. I'll come back to it later, but it's just too overwhelming right now. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I felt like the MCQ of A-2 were common sense, as long as you have a background in auditing. I really hate watching the lectures for audit…they're so much more boring than FAR or REG were, even though I hated the business law parts of REG.

Been doing 9+ hours a day since Tuesday, a friend is coming over today to study together (dunno how that will go), then I have Sun and Mon for cumulative review. Not feeling as prepared as I should be… I dunno.

I'm a day behind on my study schedule. I'm struggling through the last 10 questions of the Reporting mod in wiley (5) and it's the last realllllly long one (yay) but – looks like I'll need to take a vacay day to catch up on my schedule unless things go faster than anticipated.
