Lynn1234MemberFor those that have taken AUD already….how can you determine whether or not you had a more difficult testlet??
I took AUD today for my first time. i felt that i had some really difficult questions but then in the same testlet i would get a few easy ones. in general, i just got the mcqs were tough. some i knew right off the bat and then some others i sat there questioning between two choices. i guess my mistake was that i was getting all mixed up with all the different reports.
then came the simulations..i thought the sims were easier than the mcq! the research tab helped a lot though! utilize that research tab to the max!

hopefulcpa28Member@Lynn1234: Don't worry too much about difficulty of testlet. In my opinion, it's very subjective. I usually judge it based on the material I saw/studied in Becker compared to what I saw. If there was something I had seen or studied in Becker, but forgot on the exam day shouldn't be considered hard as it was my own fault. But whenever I saw off the wall questions or something I had never seen or barely seen (a para), I took that as hard.
I'm taking Aud for the 2nd time in three days. Last time I took it, I found MCQs to be really similar to Becker and SIMS weren't too hard (minus the J/Es)…was your experience similar (if you used Becker)?
I'm also really weak on Tran cycles (A4 in Becker), was that heavily tested?
Thanks in advance!:) Good Luck!!

Lynn1234Member@hopefulcpa thanks! yes questions were similiar to becker. i wouldn't worry about that A4 in becker.
may i ask how your first time taking AUD went? what did you find difficult? did you walk out thinking you passed??
good luck to you as well!

hopefulcpa28Member@Lynn1234, Thank you so much!
My experience first taking it was good. I won't say I was confident (you can never be sure), but I thought 75 wouldn't be too hard. Before walking in, I was really really nervous. I felt like I knew my stuff well (minus A4 Tran cycle). While taking the exam, I kept thinking, “it's gonna get harder…it's gotta get harder.” Most of my MCQs were from Becker and only couple questions were related to A4 tran cycle. Even those two were “simple.” I also got some off the wall questions, but I was able to narrow it down to two and made an educated guess. SIMS weren't too hard…It took me a while, but as long as I knew my concepts, they weren't impossible…EXCEPT one SIM which involved J/E. I haven't done that in so long, but I did what I remembered from college.
I felt lucky when I walked out and seriously thought, “I better pass this…I don't think I'll ever get an easy exam like this again.”
Well, you know what they say? If it's easy, you haven't earned it…
This time, I bought Wiley test bank (oh so helpful), and Final Review. I just postponed my test ($88 down the drain): but I feel like if I do all the Wiley and becker MCQ 3x, I should be fine…I don't wanna see AUD again:(
Good Luck to us!

katelynParticipantI just realized I have 4 hours to take AUD. That seems like a lot of time. I did FAR in like 3.5 hrs and there are all those calculations. How is the AUD time budget looking for those of you who have taken it before?
AUD: 92 (10/2011)
BEC: 82 (7/2011)
FAR: 55 (8/2010); 88 (8/2011)
REG: 62 (8/2009); 87 (1/7/12)

PistolPeteMemberMy rundown from AUD yesterday. MCQ's were verbatim from Becker, and the ones that weren't were structured very similar to Becker. There was only a handful that I wasn't sure about. The SIM's were rough, but manageable. I left about 2 hours for SIM's and that was probably right in line, giving me enough time to really look over the research. I used it for at least some portion of every SIM, and if I didn't find the exact answer it at least pointed me in the right direction. I’m not sure what the fuss was about FAR questions on the AUD SIMS. I didn’t experience this.
I’m trying not to feel too confident, but my gut says I passed.

ToCPA2011MemberI agree. Long before the CPA journey, I came to this site and read a lot of inspiring stories where many have failed, yet still kept going strong in pursuing their CPA license. Nothing wrong for those who pass all four parts at their first attempts. However, I personally admire those who've failed multiple times but never have given up their dreams. The perseverance is what help many overcome difficulties. So yes. Don't give up. If it is not this time. It will be next time, or next time… till WE ALL PASS!

tryinghardCPAParticipantQuick Questions:
Is Audit consists of 3 testlest of 24 MCQs AND 7 simulations? for a 4 hour test? I need to figure out time budgeting for each MCQs before my test on 10/30…Thanks n advance and goodluck to us all. Congrats to all who passed audit!

katiekantonMemberIt's 3 testlets of 30 MCQs, plus Sims. This is how I'm thinking about breaking mine down:
Testlet 1 – Medium Difficulty – 30 mins
Testlet 2 – Medium/Hard – 40 mins
Testlet 3 – Medium/Hard – 40 mins
Break – 10 mins (if I've had to take more time with testlets, this will be eaten into rather than Sims time, but I know I'll have to go to the bathroom somewhere in that four hours)
Sims – 2 hours
This way, I set aside time to review the MCQs in each testlet before moving on, but I also have a time limit on them to keep me from stressing and worrying and wasting 10 minutes on questions I can't figure out. I know most people probably would review only the questions they have trouble with, but one of my major problems is that on questions asking “which one is NOT” or “which is LEAST”, I have a tendency to reverse the question.
If anyone has advice about this or thinks it's an unrealistic allocation, please don't hesitate to tell me.
