    Hello,

I just took the AUD exam this afternoon, and used only the Wiley book to study. The jury is out until I actually get my score, of course, but I felt pretty comfortable with the material.

I did read the professional standards, but it's not like I memorized every single page of it. You'll notice as you work on the MCQs that some of them pertain to information you can only get by referring to the outlines of the standards. So, in that sense, you can't get away with just the modules.

I think I understood the information better by having the professional standards there for reinforcement. I've never done any auditing professionally, and I've never taken an auditing class, so it also could be that I just needed more information than the average CPA candidate.

    Good luck!

    Lauren

I'm using Yaeger Home Study….it seems like what the instructor is saying and telling me to read isn't enough for me to be able to get the MCQ right….Did you also read the book?

Yep, I also read the book. Basically, I would read the module and do the MCQs, and if I wasn't sure about something, I would refer to the professional standards outlines. As it turned out, I referred to them a lot. 🙂 So it seems like I read all of the outlines because I was constantly flipping back and forth, but I didn't really.

For me, the most helpful part of my studying is to review every MCQ in the book in the 4-5 days before the test. I did that for both REG and AUD. This time, I just took Monday – Wednesday off work and reviewed basically one module a day. I feel like the MCQs (and simulations) in the Wiley book are very close to what was on the test, so having everything fresh in my mind was good.

I have a question, is any one here a slow reader? I have this problem. I propose to myself reading a certain amount of pages, but I cannot do them fast

I am an extremely slow reader…I can read fast, but I don't comprehend what I read when I do.

That's why I think the Yaeger Home Study is better for me…they tell me which parts I should read.

I just took my AUD today (5/3/10). I feel like I did OK on the MCQS, I would mark about 5 or 6 per testlet, but I bent over and just took it on the simulations. If this was a standard exam and someone asked me did I got a 75 or better I would say no. But from what I've heard this is one of those adaptive exams that gets more abusive as you do better. I have to keep troop morale high so I'm going to start studying FAR, but I'm curious about one thing. Can you mess up a simulation and miss a handful of MCQS and still pass?

Ok… so I could use some advice. I've stuck hard to my study plan and had convinced myself that I'd be finished with my last exam in April. Well, I would have been finished except I failed AUD and have to retake it this month. It’s difficult to get back in the mindset (especially with my REG scores still in limbo), but I officially started re-studying yesterday. It's discouraging starting all over again at chapter 1, page 1 of a book. I watched the A1 lecture, read through my notes, and did all MC for the chapter. I scored very well. Starting to study all over again is just making me frustrated about the questions I was originally asked on my first AUD exam. How do they know exactly what to ask you that you don't know? I wish there was an open-ended simulation where I could write out everything I do know! I realize now that I definitely need to nail down A4, but other than that I’m at a loss… any suggestions on re-studying tips?

I've heard Jeff suggest the Yaeger Cram to several people…this would give you the chance to maybe learn it from another books perspective. Maybe it will cover something that your other course didn't.

I'm just that good, FARbehind. 🙂

Honestly, it came from not studying sections of the exam that I scored highly in, then scoring low in them the next time around. I fixed that problem in April, and I hope my score next week shows it.

    Thanks for the luck!

I'm getting ready for audit and just finished reading section 2 of Becker. I think I'm more worried about Rick Porcello getting his act together against the Yankees than I am this exam. To everyone who has failed, you need to just put more time in. When it's time to take your exam you have to go in with a cocky attitude and say you'll settle for no less than a 99! Look at me, I'm already getting my swag on and I'm still 2 1/2 weeks out.

Also, does anyone know where the jobs are? I live in the unemployment state (MI) and can't even sniff an interview. I think I want to move somewhere warmer

Completely agree HM890…I work in tax and the only exam I failed (or even scored below an 80 on) was AUD…

Anywho, I took AUD today. Let the endless wait for wave 2 scores begin today…
