    christian2823, I'm also taking AUD on April 29 – I failed AUD 2x 70 & 69 – I used Yaeger Homestudy both times I failed

    I think to pass AUD (unless you work in AUD or are one of those brains that always gets high 90's) you have to do over 2,000 MCQ. I only did most of the questions in the Wiley book 2x. This time I'm doing ALL the questions in the Wiley book and ALL the MCQ in the Wiley 14.00 CD.

    I'm also using Gleim for AUD and will listen to all the lectures in Yaeger Homestudy again…

    AUD is my last part and I'm sick of studying….

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=74,75,80, AUD=70,69, Apr 29 …. ?

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    NJCPA2B-

    Know the different opinions and what changes in the reports. Know the difference between compliation and reviews. If you had becker, I would tell you to just do the questions over and over because you will see the same questions on the test. Not sure about Yaeger or Gleim…you WILL get through it just keep at those questions. Make up your own pneumonics (sp?).

    AUD 95 (3/5/10); BEC 83 (5/28/10); FAR 71, 72, 74, 82 (10/16/10); REG 65,80(11/23/10)
    ALL DONE πŸ™‚

    Thanks LSU_BR ….I will keep your comments in mind!

    You probably work in AUD, right?

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    I do and I'm always afraid to say that. I expected to know alot off hand, but I mainly audit federal and there were maybe three pages on federal in the Becker book. Word for word, 90% of the questions were from Becker. I almost fell out of my chair because I could not believe it. Not sure if that was just the luck of the draw or if all the audit test versions are that way.

    I will be thinking about you and cheering you on when you need it πŸ™‚ Keep me updated and let me know if you need any help. I made up alot of my own pneumonics so I can give you some ideas if you would like πŸ™‚

    AUD 95 (3/5/10); BEC 83 (5/28/10); FAR 71, 72, 74, 82 (10/16/10); REG 65,80(11/23/10)
    ALL DONE πŸ™‚

    This inventory count and if its a test of control or substantive test is killin me

    The word “Observe” can apply to both “test of control” (non-$dollars) or “subsantive test” (dollars $)

    Observing inventory is a subsantive test becuase inventory deals with dollars $.

    Observing a client's employee doing his job is a test of control (e.g., observing A/P personnel review all documentation prior to approving invoice for payment) Test of controls- only test for the operating effectiveness of contols..doesn't involve dollars….

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    also to add to NJCPA's explanation – when inventory is treated as a substantive test, it involves the auditor going the warehouse and “observing” inventory and doing counts – then comparing such counts to the client's system to ensure the inventory balance is properly stated. If differences are noted, this is reported and the $ impact would be calculated (i.e. this would be a substantive test as you are trying to determine the $ value of the misstatement of inventory if any).

    Controls testing – as NJCPA mention, is observing the inventory in the warehouse (it exists) and the operating effectiveness (staff is performing the cunts and control procedures etc).

    Okay. I'm in NC. I took Audit February 1st and still don't have my grade. The state says they haven't received all the scores yet. Is this normal Jeff? Is there a cut-off date of when scores from the January-February window have to be released? This is my last score so they're basically torturing me at this point.

    I'm also taking Aud on April 29th. This will be my third time, failed twice, first with a 68 then a 70. I have never done public accounting, always been more on the operational end of it. Im hoping to pass this monster once and for all.

    Have FAR on May 28th, I'm hoping that I have enough time for FAR, I would hate to have to repeat that too now…for those of you who have passed FAR, any suggesstions on the best way to approach the exam with such little time to prepare?

    I am using cpaexcel software to study…

    Thanks in Advance!!

    cpa hopeful, I'm not sure how CPA excel is set up but I would say go over all the topics once and take notes on parts that they say are important. Then do a bunch of MCQs! Then for the ones you missed or guessed on go back and retake notes on those topics and review those. That's what I've found most helpful really reviewing the weak spots.

    Does any one feel that when you are starting to study for a part, you start to feel nervous and anxious. I had to move audit from april 29 to may 19 because of my nerves.

    I totally understand the nerve problems. I try to just keep telling myself that there is no way to know everything. I live in KY but take my tests at the nearest testing site, which is in Indiana. Since it's a smaller area, I usually wait until about 2 1/2 weeks before I want to test to actually schedule my exam. Some people think this is risky or that I might need a more firm deadline. For me, I think it takes a little bit of the pressure off. I may study for months knowing that I plan to take a test the end of April, but if I decide I need until May 1 it's no big deal (no worries about re-schedule fees either).

    David – those were written in 2006. Are you too cheap for repeated NTS payments? That's where you're headed using old materials like that.

    Just my unsolicited opinion πŸ™‚

    There are a number of new SASs since 2006. And the assertions got a makeover as well. I agreed with Jeff that new materials would give you a much better chance.

    AUD 95 (3/5/10); BEC 83 (5/28/10); FAR 71, 72, 74, 82 (10/16/10); REG 65,80(11/23/10)
    ALL DONE πŸ™‚
