jeffKeymasterThis is for people taking their exams in the April/May 2010 testing window.
Recommended prep time for AUD is 4 weeks @ 20 hours a week.

jhnlibbyParticipantIs it safe to assume that if I have not received my score from a test on April 3rd that I am in the 2nd window?
May 27, 2010 at 7:57 pm #236185
Melissa3223ParticipantQuick question/thought: If I cannot pass the CPA exam now, how am I going to pass it in 2011? It looks alot tougher.

shannon1123ParticipantJust got my audit score – 72 🙁 That was attempt number 4.
I take regulation tomorrow and I feel like everything I knew is escaping me due to nerves. I'm pretty defeated and I don't want to be!! I want to pass something and I feel like if I can't pass reg tomorrow (since I work in taxes) I feel like I should just give up!
Congrats to those who passed!! You have all worked very hard and deserve it!!!

adcpaParticipantShannon1123,
How would you rate your audit experience? How were the testlets and SIMS? Did your testlets vary in difficulty or were they pretty much the same?
Thanks =) I wish you the best of luck tommorow

shannon1123Participant@adcpa – I would say that based on my experience I knew it was going to be close, either way pass or fail wouldn't be by much. The first bank of MC were straight forward and pretty easy. The second set became wordier and lengthier, definitely more challenging. The third set seemed to be about the same as the second, maybe a tad bit more difficult. I went into the sims with over 2 hours left and really took my time of the first sim. Was almost positive that I knocked it out of the park. Apparently I really took my time because when I looked at the timer and realized I only had 40 minutes for the second sim I freaked, which I shouldnt have since that was still ample time. I'm pretty sure the second sim is what cost me. I lost my focus and panicked. Ugh – It's alright though, I know what I need to do to make sure that doesn't happen again.

AnonymousInactiveI just got home from taking AUD. My first section seemed to be medium difficulty. I marked 9 for review and feel I could have missed 3-5 after review. The second test seemed harder. I marked 10 for review and really have no idea what I could have missed. The last section seemed ridiculously easy and was concerning to me. Is this bad?
So recap 1st med 2nd hard 3rd easy
I felt I did well on the sims and written communication.
EDIT First section took 30 minutes SECOND 30 minutes THIRD about 25
I had a lot of time for the sims and took advantage.

AnonymousInactiveMy AUD experience was:
1st-Medium
2nd-Hard
3rd-HardI don't feel confident at all. One of the sims I was like what?! The second was okay.
Went into the sims with 2 1/2 hours left.
Left the exam with 50 minutes to spare.Praying for a 75, but definitely unsure. This was my 2nd attempt. Either way on to FAR, I'll catch back with AUD later if I didn't pass.

AnonymousInactiveResponding to a few posts above…
Well the test is adaptive so if you did well on the 1st testlet (which is considered standard difficulty), the 2nd should bemore difficult and the questions will be worth more. Then the 3rd testlet is a combination of your results on testlet 1 and 2, so if you found that the 2nd testlet was hard, that probably means you did well on the 1st testlet, then if the 3rd testlet is easier, then you may not have done as well on the 2nd testlet, therefore reducing the difficulty that the 2nd testlet was. I don't believe there is an “easy” testlet, simply put, you start at medium difficulty, if you do bad you get another medium, if you do well hard, then if u do bad on hard, 3rd testlet is medium again.
https://www.thepasa.org/news/cpa-exam-insider-information.htmlI have to admit that these hard testlet AUD questions can get sumwhat difficult compared to other cpa exam “hard” testlets. Both my 2nd and 3rd testlet were hard and the questions seemed very general with multiple right answers. The easy testlet was really easy I only had like 4-5 I was torn between 2 answers, while on testlet 2 and 3, I marked like 8-14 of the questions for review. I got to the simulations with 2:40 left and felt the sims were easy, especially given that I did not do a simulation practice before the test. I am an auditor so maybe this helped, though I feel the simulations were more about general accounting than specficially audit work.

evaianosParticipantI didn't pass FAR for third time (74,71,72). and I used Kaplan for study materials. I will try one more time , but this time I will change my study material from Kaplan to something else. Is Becker a good choice?. Does Becker help with simulations and communications?
Congratulations for those who passed!May 29, 2010 at 1:43 pm #236197
NY GT girlParticipantI used Becker and I thought it prepared me well. I wouldn't say that it explicitly prepares you for sims and written communication… I think it prepares you incredibly well in general. I have done one practice sim total for all of the tests I have taken. The thing I found that was more helpful was to go to cpa-exam.org or whatever that site is, to see the functionality of the sims. Also, don't forget to use the research tab to look up things you don't know in your sim if you have time! Hope this helps!
NY Candidate using Becker: FAR (2/20) - 81, AUD (4/3) - 92, REG (5/3) - 95, BEC (5/29) - 89 DONE!!!

AnonymousInactiveHi all,
I took AUD yesterday and my experience was bizarre- so different than my previous tests (BEC & REG). First, it was the first time that I took a test in the morning so there were tons of testers waiting to be signed in all at the same time. Second, none of the CPA tests were loading in my testing center (and they said it was a nationwide problem) for 2 full hours!! Yes, I had to wait 2 hours before my test. By the time they were able to load it, I was just so excited to get started on my exam, it was funny…but I had been so worried that they wouldn't be able to load the exam in time for me to take it and since it was basically one of the last days of the window, I did NOT want to wait till July.
Anyways, my testlets were easy, hard, hard. I was actually able to tell with AUD- unlike with REG where I had no clue. The first testlet I ended up with about 4 marked, and the second and third I had about 7-8. I had about three questions that had repeats (so unfair, but at least I think I got them right). I took my dandy old time on the m.c. and started the first simulation with about 2 1/2 hours. I couldn't believe my written communication topics were so normal compared to what I had just experienced a month ago with REG. I got both research tabs (one actually took a couple of tries..about 10 minutes, but I had so much time so I knew it was okay). The other tabs were okay- I feel like I got at least 70-80%. I ended the test with about half hour to go, and that was after taking a bathroom break in between simulation #1 and #2. I was so happy to leave the testing center- I was there from 8:00- 2:30!!! And i was also really hungry 🙂
At this point, without knowing my score, I would say that Becker did a very good job at preparing me for AUD. All I did was read the book and work the m.c.- I did not watch any of the lectures. But there were definitely some m.c. on the real exam that mirrored Becker's questions or answer choices, so that was great. Now it's waiting time again!!
