I am studying for AUD and have a question concerning the “risk of incorrect acceptance”. Multiple choices answers are saying that an increase in this results in a decrease in the required sample size. Can anyone explain this… I am sure it is right in front of me but I can't grasp why that would be.

Think of it like detection risk. As you are willing to accept a higher detection risk, your sample size decreases. This is because detection risk is inversely related to the amount of evidence needed. If you want your risk to be zero, you would have to sample everything. As you accept more risk, less testing is required.

The risk of incorrect acceptance (the sample seems ok, so you conclude that the population is ok, when in reality the deviation rate of the population is much higher) rises as you do less testing. Less testing = decreased sample size.

OK, I wasn't thinking of it in that way. The wording of it made me think that we are projecting a higher risk and we will need more sampling. That makes sense though, thanks.

Anyone from CA got their scores? I remember CA released scores on saturday last window…..or does the NASBA system update affect non-NASBA states releasing too? I really don't understand why those NASBA people had to update their system while scores were supposed to be releasing…they could have done that last weekend or next weekend….this is ridiculous!

Last time , when scores was released, IL Board told me at the phone that they receive scores as soon as AICPA release them. I don't know if they receive scores directly from AICPA or thru NASBA.

I would assume that IL (and CA for that matter) would have the chance of posting their scores some time this afternoon/tonight. I know NASBA said it wouldnt release scores due to a system update but I dont think that affects independent states like IL. Maybe I'm wrong? If anyone hears from IL let me know. I am cramming for FAR which I have on Wednesday but would like to know my AUD score if I can today!

Yeah it is looking more and more like we will have to wait until Monday for IL to release. And with my FAR test Wednesday I may just hold out at this point and look at my AUD score after my test. Just incase it is not so confidence building news (knock on wood)

@ Jumpshot – I'm taking FAR on Wed as well, although this is my second time, I am waiting for REG & AUD, but I am not sure I will have enough self control not to look come Monday and Tuesday. I think I passed AUD but not sure on REG. I tend to think that a failing grade might motivate me just as much as a passing one. Who knows, how can I not look, you know?

    MASS - BEC 79, AUD 75, REG 80, FAR 71 FEB'10, FAR 71 JUN'10, FAR NOV'10 77 and I'm spent...

@weneedrealtimescores: I hear ya. The AUD test I am waiting back on is my second time taking it. I felt confident the first time I took it and scored a 71. Felt good this last time too. I think just feeling the same way is just making me psych myself out even more. For all I know I could have a good score. Studying for FAR right now is killing me without knowing AUD. If I passed AUD then FAR is all I have left. First time taking it on Wednesday. I'm really praying for a passing AUD score. I have no idea what else I could do to prepare myself even more for that test! And I really DONT want to have to take it a third time!
