For those of you who finished or currently enrolling graduate school, what major are you in? And how do you like it?

I read somewhere.. This guy major public policy instead of any more accounting (since he thinks cpa is enough accounting studies) and it worked out great because he ended up having a job related with that degree.

I want to hear more stories like this!!

Anybody took graduate program and felt that it really worked out great with your current job?

Has anybody majored in something that’s not accounting related at all? And what is your job now?

I’m studying Gmat these days and looking for the best option to use this expensive tuitions. I’m a ny candidate, live in nj.

    B.S. in Economics

Bachelor and Master of Accountancy with a certification in taxation

Looking to do international tax, especially transfer pricing. Had a job interview yesterday with a mid-level firm….crossing my fingers.

I also took GMAT, and got 720. I probably could go back and get into any MBA program that I can afford (Wharton's not calling me, and vice versa), but a PhD is a more likely option a few more years down the road. Just trying to keep options at this point. Considering LSAT also.

    Thanks everybody,

Seems like master in accounting or taxation is preferred if you are working for public.

Your gmat score is pretty amazing. Any tips? This school i want to go, they only required 550 but considering all the competitors and my lack of experiences (plus i graduated with BS from lesser known school), i think i need at least 700 to get in.

And anybody out there who have taken gmat before, Is 700 achievable if you study like i studied cpa exams? And how many months do you think it would take?

Once again, thank you for your opinion.

GSU-CPA, best way to learn to code is take advantage of online resources, thenewboston has TONS of videos on pretty much every language you can think of. My understanding is, well like everything, in computer science courses you do way more theory than coding, so you basically have to learn it on your own.

I did my CPA a few years ago, but now I am actually enrolled in a Masters in IT Program. I work in Accounting System Implementation, so it seemed like the next logical step for me.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

    I DID IT!!!!

    Using Becker Self-Study

I personally think the best 1-2 punch in our industry is the CPA-MBA combo. Both are highly recognizable and establish high credibility levels on paper within the accounting, finance and business world. I think from a networking standpoint, both are excellent to draw attention.
