My problem with me studying NInja only for REG is understanding the questions. Probably one of the most time consuming and demotivating feeling ever. I just want to know what did most of you guys do in order to understand these questions?
Ninja Book? (I suck at learning from books, prefer a teacher to explain with good examples and visuals)
Ninja Notes? (good notes, but very limited on details)

I am not sure but I really do not want to fork out more money on another full review course like Becker. Becker worked for some people but I did not find the lecture engaging and the videos were them literally reading from the book and telling me to highlight. I should’ve gotten a full review course that doesn’t expire on me.

What would you guys recommend I do?

Don't like reading or watching lectures? You're going to need to do one or the other. IMO, you need to just man up and read the material and internalize it the best you can. Studying for this takes time and commitment, that's all there is to it.

I agree with @Tim. Honestly no point in wasting money on a full review course if you aren't going to read the material or watch the lectures. Your scores suggest to me that you have large enough shortcomings of the knowledge that you are very unlikely to succeed by just going through the questions. Not trying to be rude here, but these exams are all about commitment, and it just doesn't sound like you've made that commitment yet.

I graduated from college without reading too much and not taking notes. I would just listen to the teach work through the problems and I remembered it for the homework and exams. I thought I would be able to the same thing with the CPA exam. The problem with the CPA exam and the review courses is that it is really implausible for someone to explain every concept and work multiple problems for each topic. It would take forever and cost hella. I passed with Becker and Ninja and I quickly realized that the lectures were not going to work for me. What I ended up doing was @Tim said, I manned up and got to work.

I pulled up the Becker book on one half of my screen and microsoft word on the other half of the screen and I just read and took notes. My notes mostly consisted of the paragraph headings and the first 1 or 2 sentences. I wasn't really paying attention just processing. I didn't do too many MCQs just reading and taking notes. That took about 3-4 weeks per section. 6 days a week about 4-6 hours per day. After that I did nonstop MCQs until my test date, another 3-4 weeks of MCQs.

I've heard it said that the CPA exam is not a test of how smart you are, but of how resilient you are.

There are a lot of different learning strategies you can refer to. Youtube videos about studying / learning methods are quite a lot, so you might want to start with that. There are also “animated” videos available on youtube for accounting lesson, in case you might get stuck and can't just learn from the book or off-the-shelf lectures.

Myself, I am a visual learner. I used Becker to review and I remember I hated listening to lectures. My ears can't seem to put up with most of the lecturers voice pitch and tones.

What worked for me — I passed all my exams on the first try, was answering as much multiple choice questions, taking notes for those I get in error — selectively listen to the lecture if I get the item wrong, and then check out some more animated videos to reinforce my knowledge (ie, youtube videos for hedging, for pension, etc.).

    I hope that helps!
