    Hi all,

I am currently in the last week of my final review stage, Just wanted to put a feeler out there for the Business law chapters. Becker implies that most the of emphasis is on the tax rather than the Blaw but they still have almost half the book dedicated to it. Did you see a lot of Blaw on past exams? I outlined the notes and did all mcqs for CH 1-4. I’d say i have a decent grasp on those. Is it worth it for Ch 5-8 or just give them a good read and rely on the progress tests to give you mcq from those chapters?

    Thanks,

Business Law makes up about 20% of the exam. I believe Ethics (most of chapter 5) makes up about 15% of the exam. Tax makes up the rest. I felt that was about accurate on my exam. I went through chapters 1 through 7 but only did a few sections of chapter 8.

I scored an 81 on REG. Passed by a pretty decent margin. Since I passed, I did not receive a score report, but I'm quite certain I scored weaker on the Business Law portion. It was just so tricky to me!

I think you will have to make your own decision. I would say know tax very well! That's most important. Also, chapter 5 on ethics is pretty important! Chapters 6 through 8 are about 20% of the exam. I say try to go through lectures and multiple choice for chapters 6 and 7 if possible. Chapter 8 go through Agency Law, but if you don't have time to go through the rest of the sections, don't sweat it too much (obviously it's better if you can go through the whole book, but with your limited time, you might not have a chance).

If I were you, definitely do chapter 5. It's worth your time! I'd go through chapters 6 and 7 afterwards and go through agency law on chapter 8. Then go back through all your tax chapters and drill them! Once you get very comfortable with those, go through chapter 5 again on ethics. if you have time, go through the rest of chapter 8.

    Good luck!!

why take a chance, just ensure to study blaw thoroughly. i don't think you can pass without knowing blaw. listen to the lecture carefully, taking good notes that way you don't have to re-listen to it.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

Becker chapter 1 to 5 is 80% of the exam, and Business Law is 20%. You should, at least, go over Ch 6 and 7.

Now my question for students that have taken Reg, if you had to skip some sections of Chapter 8, which one would you skip. For those who are not familiar with Becker, the following is what chapter 8 covers=

Suretyship and Creditor's rights (9 pages)

    Agency (13pages)

    Business Structures (22Pages)

    Employer-Employee Law (9pages)

    Money Laundering (7pages)

    Antitrust Law (7Pages)

    Document of Title (5pages)

    Dodd-Frank (5pages)

If you absolutely have to skip studying some sections of the business law chapter, skip the ones you already know something about. There's more low hanging fruit in new territory.

yup, agree with nadroj. peter olinto specifically says last few lectures are low hanging fruit. i didn't spend that much time on those topics. you're much better off spending time studying the IRC's.

If I can do it, you can do it too!
