I passed REG in 19 days following Jeff’s 21 day strategy (basically). I would 100% advise against it, but it can be done. I studied 8 to 12 hours a day. Didn’t read areas I felt decent in. Didn’t read very much business law, but I did do 4200 Ninja MCQ’s which included business law. I also had the Becker page that gave the breakdown of individual tax and added additional notes to it as I went. I would also write down things that weren’t sinking in. If I had to do it all over again I would just have kicked butt in the early stages instead of procrastining to the point of almost losing credit and having to really ramp it up. I did pass in a short period of time, but I literally did nothing but study and sleep. Good luck everyone!

Can you give us the details as to how you did it? I would love to use your strategy for final review since I have already been studying for Reg for around 3 months.

Martin – I basically just had a breakdown of individual taxation and completed 4200 Ninja MCQ's. I also read the basis chapters in detail. Would add to my notes for individual taxation as I went along.

@credit revenue Is that Becker page in the book? I have 2014 Becker book so I think the material is outdated. How can we get the new one? hahaa

Did you read the basis chapters in the Becker book! I need to go over that.

What were you averaging on the MCQs?? Did you take notes as you were doing it and rewrite your notes?

    Thanks!

Yes, Becker. The tax page is at the very front. It shows what deductions are and what are exemptions. The page doesn't cover everything so you have to add to it. I was trending 92%. I read about basis in Becker. My book was 2014 as well I believe. Business Law is very important as well, but you can pick up enough to make a decent score through just doing MCQ's. This method will not get you a 99. Somewhere between 75-85 is realistic. I was doing 150-300 MCQ's a day. On the low end at the beg and close to 300 the last 4 or 5 days.

Credit Revenue, I will try to do my best to reach 300 per day. My record is 200 as of now. You did not practice doing simulations? I guess your exam was not very detail oriented. Do you have a background in taxes?

Yes, I spent one day half assing simulations. I went through the tax ones in Becker and a few in ninja. I basically just looked at the answers. I am sure I lost most of my points in simulations on the actual exam. I know how to find the research question as it was my 4th exam. I do not have a background in tax. Tax does make sense to me though for whatever reason. There are patterns in all basis in and business law questions. Hopefully, as you increase your MCQ's you will start to see them. I was ready for the exam when I was at 300 a day. I was basically just reviewing at that point. If you force yourself to do 150 a day. After a while you will be ready for 250 or so. Many of the 250 would be repeats, but I like that because the more I see something the more likely it is to stick.

Credit Revenue, I think this method of learning worked for you because you must be pretty smart, and I will follow your advice for my final review, but I don't think any average Joe could study for REG in 19 days and pass it. If doing MC over and over were the answer to passing this exam in 80 days everyone would have tried it already. It is very hard to learn by just doing MC questions, I think I would end up just writing notes on every single answer and that would take a lot longer than conventional learning. The good thing is that it worked for you and you did not lose your credit. If you would have done this before, you would have passed this exam in 3 months. Congrats!
