Motivation/Advice

Hello All. Just checked my Audit score this morning and failed with a 70. It was my first time taking Audit but I was sure that I passed since the exam didn’t seem hard at all, especially the SIMS. I have taken REG, FAR, and Audit and failed each in the 70’s. I’m stuck right now because it just seem like I should have passed all 3 exams but just can’t get over that 3-4 point hump. I’m not sure where to go from here. Any extra motivation or advice will be greatly appreciated! Hope everyone else had better luck than me last night!

Hey! I'm not sure what to say. I've passed 3, but been stuck with AUD since last year. I keep telling myself that is okay. That I'll eventually pass… I'm just trying to keep myself together, but every time I look at the score screen and see a failing score my heart sinks. I'm losing confidence, motivation and energy too. Is really hard, but I think that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Just wanted to let you know that is okay to feel discouraged a little bit. But we need to keeping trying. I'm not giving up yet. I have 2 more chances before I loose credit. So you'll see me around trying again and again. Your scores are a lot better than mine. So keep pushing, we got this!

    FAR- Passed
    AUD- **F,F,F,** Retake TBD
    REG- Passed
    BEC- Passed

You can do this. Just focus on one section at a time. Every exam is different and next time you may end up in the 80s! I don't know if this will help but I created a motivational board that sits in my office to remind me of the reasons why I am doing this in the first place – to give my family a better life and to provide more job security. So many have passed this test before and they will keep passing people. Be patient and be confident in your ability. There are only 4 tests separating you from being a CPA and each section you pass will provide you with more motivation.

Also, I failed AUD the first time with a 73 and was in total disbelief. I have worked with our auditors for 10 years and felt very confident after my exam. I think I spent a day staring at the score before I got back to the grind and passed the second time around.

    BEC - 84 *
    AUD - 73, 76 *
    REG - 70, 72
    FAR - 09/08/16

If I could make a suggestion, focus on one exam at a time, not 3. If you fail an exam then start something else, you’re going to forget half of the stuff from the section you failed. Stick with one exam until you pass, then move on.

Thanks @Andyred04. I'm going to stick with Audit since it is what I just failed. Being that I failed with a 70, do you have any suggestions on what to change in study habits? I am using Gleim as well. My tactics was reading all 20 chapters and drilling MCQs and doing a SIM for each study unit.

I haven’t taken audit yet but I’ll probably use the same study method for it as I have the previous 3. I read all 20 units taking (handwritten) detailed noted on tough areas and key points. I do not do any MCQs while I read. Then I solely do MCQs taking detailed notes on questions I miss or ones that I guess on. I also read/rewrite Ninja Notes to take a break from MCQs every once in a while. So far it has worked for me as I’m 3 for 3. Good luck!
