First time I took REG I thought I studied like a madman, and I got a 69. Now I really did study intensely for another 2 months, using Becker books and website/questions, and I’m not sure if I passed this time either. It really seems as if on my 2 REG exams the testers have cherry-picked the extremely tedious content in the last few paragraphs of each section in the books, and hammered away on these less-covered topics. At least for me less-covered, let’s face it I am not going to memorize the entire book, you pick out what you want to focus on, what you think is going to appear on the exam and drill on that. I read chapters 1-7 every word, and did all the questions and SIMS and skimmed ch 8. Did all the questions and SIMS for all chapters, multiple times. Wrote them ALL down, studied them on the train during day and basically memorized literally every single SIM that Becker had to offer. And the exam does not resemble what Becker is telling me is going to be on the test. Getting discouraged!! Anyone take REG lately??

@Kelleyzt32 You have a dream score in REG. How you prepared for SIMS? Most people say that is the hardest part of REG exam?

@IB553 – Two of the three were not covered anywhere on Wiley or the Wiley test bank under REG (Ninja may have had them but I didn't make it through every single MCQ/Sim on there due to time constraint) – HOWEVER, I have a feeling I will see them both in FAR. Unfortunately for me, I had not studied FAR yet and I have been working and out of college for 6 years. If I would have taken the exam back then perhaps I could have remembered how to do them. The third weird SIM was covered but was more of a brush over – not emphasized much. That being said, I like @Kelleyzt32‘s advice to have a broad knowledge of all topics. Obviously the test can be conquered as many before have passed and tonight many more will find out they did as well. If I don't get it this time I plan on giving it a Ninja kick next go around! 🙂

I am in the same boat. MCQ were not too bad but the SIMS were so hard that I honestly think I only got the research one correct. Hoping for partial credit on the others. I kept skipping SIMS and wasting time trying to tackle the easiest one next, and was rushed when I saw 20 minutes remaining and had two full SIMS to go. Already studying for a re-take :((((((((((

Haven't taken REG but have it in 2.5 months. This is depressing. Considering REG is calculation based I thought it'd be straightforward like FAR was where you just have to learn the main idea of each chapter.

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)

IB553 – For the sims I did them all in Becker first try without checking answer and left whatever I got wrong. Then I would redo all the sims again for the chapter before moving on. This way I was learning the way to do it instead of looking at answer and thinking I knew how. I would say practice and just focus on the concepts it is asking and don't worry about the small details

Well…I ended up with a 70 in REG. Oddly enough, I'm not completely depressed about it. It's just another hurdle to get over. The only bad thing is that I was going to start studying for FAR today so I'll need to double down on studying for both in order to squeeze in a retake in July and FAR in late August or the first 10 days of September. I will say, though, the scoring process has me more confused now as I expected to completely bomb the test. I'll be going through all of the remaining Ninja MCQs and SIMs hoping it will help me to boost my score for next time. As Jeff always says, I'm not 5 points away from passing – I'm 75 points away! Best of luck to everyone else facing a retake!!
