    BEC…here I come.

I’m experiencing multiple emotions/feeling right now and I have one hundred thoughts running through my mind. Any tips?

I'm tired of operating in fear and mediocrity. It's time to try. It's time to do. It's time to go.

You have spent so much time to prepare, all you need is have a good night sleep, and take the exam tomorrow. You will pass.

Aww, thanks everyone! I believe I studied hard. Heck, I know I did. However, for some reason, I feel like there's still so much I need to know. Those darn variances kick my behind every time smh. Hopefully, that's not on my test LOL

Did you perform a Human Sacrifice to the CPA Gods?

Make sure you sign on the dotted line clearly with blood when Satan prompts you to.

    Thank you

@ABTX411 did you only study while at the classes? I am trying to find a better study pattern or way to attack this exam. I take BEC on July 1st. I have Becker online study, Ninja Notes, and Ninja audio. I initially wanted to take the exam in June but I feel that the first two chapters (Coso and financial planning) have taken a lot of me and I am not doing so great with homework. I could really use some advice.

6 – 9 hours per week (the amount of time I spent in a classroom) is not enough time to spend studying for these exams given a compressed timeline. I think most people need a minimum average of 25 hours per week of study time. For BEC alone, I spent approximately 75+ hours on self study in addition to the 24 hours I spent in a classroom.

For BEC, I read about 300 pages of the Wiley Course Outlines text book, and I completed 1,521 MCQs. I also practiced a few WCs. I used the Wiley video lectures only when I felt I really needed them. I also looked up some videos on youtube and played them through my car speakers while driving to/from work to help with COSO.

For AUD, I only read the study text if I needed a deeper understanding of the material, and I did not watch any of the videos. I answered 2,132 MCQs and completed 101 TBSs (simulations).

For FAR, I never opened the text book. In CPA Excel, there are 2 types of videos – Lecture and Deep Dive. If there was a Deep Dive for a topic, I watched it (except for G&NFP, which I practically skipped – don’t do this. I was only able to because I took a G&NFP class last semester and still remembered most of it.) I answered 1,659 MCQs and completed 75 TBSs.

For REG, I have not opened the study text, but I have listened to a lot of the lecture videos through my car speakers while driving to/from work. I have answered 1,466 MCQs and completed 107 TBSs.

A more lengthy and specific outline of my study journey can be found at the end of this thread if you’re interested: https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/score-review-2#sthash.sLBGgZBy.dpuf

@ABTX411 Thanks for your input! I have read on a few of these threads that people have passed simply by doing a thousands of MCQ. They only looked at the text if they really needed something explained. Do you think this would be a good approach?

Unfortunately, the answer to that question is different for everyone. In my opinion, you must have at least a basic understanding of a concept before you can efficiently and effectively answer MCQs. Answering thousands of MCQs will do nothing for you if you don’t understand why you are getting questions wrong. Since it had been so long since I had studied any of the concepts covered in BEC, it was more efficient for me to review the study text first to refresh my memory. In REG, I find the video lectures to be more helpful than the study text. For FAR, I felt pretty comfortable with the majority of the info, so I jumped straight into the MCQs, and went back to the deep dive videos if I needed to increase my understanding. The same was true for AUD, only I preferred the AUD text over the videos for bolstering my grasp on a particular concept.

In my opinion, the goal of studying for the CPA exam should be not only understanding why an answer to a question is correct, but also why each alternate answer choice is incorrect. If you can understand all of the nuances of each answer choice given, then you should be able to cut down on the number of MCQs you’ll have to do. Notice I only did ~1,500 MCQs for BEC. I’ve heard of a lot of people doing significantly more.
