I know everyone ask how to pass the CPA exam but i would like to revert the question to myself. What would make you fail the exam? I think it is important to know as well what will stop us from passing the CPA exam. Please share with me your experience and i will make sure i will add this to my list not to do. 🙂

It's great to consider this. I try to drown out the noise of doubt and just plug away. My time is better spent failing McQ on Ninja than worrying and self doubt.
Secondly, trying to use any spare time to just do McQ. Even if it's only 5. Trying to see it as much as possible for repetition.

    Good luck!

Taking information as its face value. Try to analyze n understand why something is what.
Also, they get distracted easily and not focused, yes i was one of them and im trying diligently to change this through meditation n exercise.
Solving lots of multiple choice questions without really analyzing. In other words they value speed over quality. They both have to mastered to pass.
Not enough thinking relationally, think like a database where it creates relationships in a relational manner
Lack of motivation and low energy, keep your energy high o that you can be totally immersed when studying
Theres plenty more but i will leave up to others to respond

Just study. People fail, because they start putting other things before studying. Not saying you can't put your family/friends/fun before studying. Just make sure you make up the time you didn't study because you had to do other things.

Before all this though, you should really stop and think about what value you are expecting to get out of a CPA license and whether that means much to you. Only you know whether this journey would be worth it. If you TRULY decide that getting a CPA license is important to you, you will be able to push through any obstacles and succeed. If not, no worries. There are more successful non-CPAs out there than successful CPAs. It's certainly not the end of the world, if you decide to give up on getting your CPA license.

Once you decide this is a goal worth pursuing you can start studying. Then you will begin learning and knowledge will build confidence which will replace doubt. Take no shortcuts. Commit to the process and you will succeed. You are in good company here. Good luck!

Everyone is different, but in my opinion, when I truly sacrificed my leisure time I started passing. There is a reason people say they get their life back when they pass. For me I was trying to hang on to having a social life as well as study, and it is a zero sum game for the majority of people. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You have to truly sacrifice your extra time. When you start to feel miserable studying all the time, that is a good thing. It means you are truly sacrificing your time and you should feel good about your studies at that point.

Have you ever purchased cpa review materials only to lose interest in a matter of days? I have and I am so anxious I don't know what to do.

Tncincy Which material are you using? I am using Roger CPA Review. I love it. But i just get burn out from studying a l of hours and working overtime. It's been hectic for me. I am hoping to get out of that study rut.

I started with Wiley (years ago). A portion of Becker was a gift then it expired. I've tried Ninja I just needed the lectures, then I purchased Surgent. I really don't know, surgents lectures are not what I expected. I struggled getting the mcq's correct on statements of cash flow . I went to you tube and found Rogers lectures and I loved it. I was able to move pass statements of cash flow and tried the free trial for Roger. Most of the topics are locked. I am skeptical and trying to decide do I want to spend that money again :-(. I'm looking at it as a do what ever you have to do to pass, but I can't afford the full package. That's the only coupon available. I really don't want to go for it and lose interest in a matter of days. What is wrong with me!!!

@Tncincy I know CPA Review course are very expensive. But they all have a payment plan. You can check it out and see which plan you can afford. Ninja is $67/month.

I had ninja, I was paying a subscription each month but I don't think I was ready to do Ninja only. I think I needed those lectures to re-assure myself that I could handle the mcq's. I was not doing too good on the mcq's. I intend to use ninja, but I need a little more or am I just blowing it up in my head.
