How the Hell Does BEC Have the Highest Pass Rate? - Page 4

I was just curious how the BEC section of the exam has the highest pass rate? Six percent might not seem like a lot, but on a test like the CPA, it’s significant. In addition, it’s 12% higher, than the other parts of the exam.

Is this test a luck of the draw? I’m actually good at testing, but my god, this was the worst examination I have ever taken. I’ve passed the other sections on the first attempt essentially (I didn’t really try a few years ago and got two 69s). I’ve typically got 70s+ on my first attempt at the Becker HW, yet this section was insane. Hopefully, i’m not disclosing too much, but it felt like I was in a calculus class on the second testlet. I ended up guessing on like 5-10 questions. I likely could have solved them, but they would have easily taken me 10+ minutes each.

At lest the first testlet felt super easy. The last testlet didn’t feel too bad either. I’m hoping there were some difficult questions though because I noticed some of the tricks they tried to confuse people with.

B=84 This exam was such a b**** that I thought I failed-don't know how these things work
A=76 Slacker I am, I'll happily take it
    R=81 I LOVE taxes
F=80 I don't wanna get banned for an expletive I'm thinking with "yea" proceeding it

That's used when the sample size is not 100 you may end up with decimals. I can't explain the logic behind it right now. U should really check out abcmouse.com or mathisfun.com. don't get intimidated!

Is there a general area that BEC covers the most.. not sure if anyone can say but a lot of times I hear people say FAR is like Govt and NFP or Aud is more reports etc.. so for BEC what is the most common? I just finish all the hw/lectures on Becker and I find my strongest area are Corporate governance, IT, COSO, and Economics.. Im planning to Start Ninja tomorrow night. Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

    BEC - 76
    REG- 67, 85
    AUD-63, 74, 80!!
    FAR-65, 62, 57, 79

3 down 1 more to go. BEC is on the Line 🙁

MaLoTu, just made me a little nervous since I put things like Dear Title of person i'm writing to on my exam a week ago. I guess we'll find out on the 8th.

Spartan, hopefully, i'm not saying too much, since there is a lot of paranoia of disclosure. If I am, I apologize and am sorry. The stuff I'm mentioning is, however, considered high tested material according to Becker as well.

I would heavily advise studying chapters 1,2 & 3. I memorized all the formulas and still got hit with a few strange/odd formulas, which I had to completely guess on; pretty sure it was a difficult test-let, due to the strange formulas I got on my exam. Some of which were posed in a different format/way than the Becker ones. I've heard through the grapevine that alot of people are getting slammed with less calculations and more theory based stuff; however, i wasn't said lucky people, having had a TON of heavy calculations on my exam.

Hey @Ratfus, did you mean Chapters 1, 2, and 3 from Becker?

Thanks Ratfus! Just wondering did you end up passing? I asked so I know if there is a correlation between having more calculation to the likelihood of passing..

    Yea, chapters 1-3 on Becker.

I especially say to focus on these chapters because you can get through the theory much more quickly than you can the calculation-ally heavy shit. I ran into issues time-wise and ended having to outright guess like 6-7 questions in that one test-let. After leaving, I could have easily solved a few of those problems. Felt like i got hit with a duh light-bulb afterwords.

I will also state that those frameworks from Becker are a godspeed. MEMORIZE them. They do some nasty tricks, but there are some easy points to be gained or so a birdy advised me.

I haven't gotten my score yet, so i'll be shitting bricks for the next week or so (until the 8th)…

    Thanks Ratfus.

Good news, I've listened to Peter Olinto for B1 and B3's lectures. But it took me several weeks to finish these three chapters studying, writing notes and completing the HWs. I got B2 notes and HWs done too (but skipped Angie Brown's lectures.)

Bad news, after moving to Eco and IT weeks after that, I seemed to have completely forgotten B2 & B3. And I am only averaging 60% and trending 68% for IT after seeing all IT-MCQs from NINJA🙁

You think they could at least bring in a cute girl, instead of Angie Brown. I was hoping her awful teaching abilities and boring demeanor would be made up by the fact that she was really cute, but when they showed a video of her talking, I was extremely disappointed.

I ended up either skipping her or that other new, very shitty teacher (guy) on the last chapter and just going solo on it. While I ended up doing the worst on that section on the Becker multiple choice, I didn't really encounter much from that chapter, if at all. I think chapter 6 is more ancillary material than anything else.; it's the longest portion, yet worth the least amount of points.

Amor D- I'm in the same boat as you. After just taking AUD, I thought IT would be one of my stronger areas, but the Ninja mcq's are in another language compared to what was covered in Roger's course. The only area I'm doing well in is Corp Governance. Everything else I'm trending in the low 60's and I'm getting nervous since I'm taking it on 6/10.

For what it's worth, I took BEC over the weekend and didn't feel like it was a calculus exam. I thought the questions on the whole were pretty straight-forward and hit the main concepts. There was math, but i didn't find myself with a 10 minute problem like was previously mentioned.

I took the test this past weekend as well and it was not nearly as difficult as everyone has been saying. I have only used Becker for my exams and I feel they have prepared me for all my exams so far. If I had any advice for those people about to take BEC it would be don't stress over the formulas and know COSO and IT material like the back of your hand.

@Re2pect, you're so close on AUD. You'll get it next time. Coming out fresh from AUD will be your best advantage for BEC.

Were you the one who posted about Alpha Brain pills? I bought a bottle last month and I think it's really good.
