I guess the saying is true: If you walk out feeling okay about the exam, YOU FAILED!! I took FAR last week and received my score last night..72. I really thought I did good, great even. I did all my sims and knew 5/7 and was able to enter in EDUCATED guesses on the others.. So sad.

I told myself yesterday that I’m quitting, this is too much for me.. but this morning I woke up and said “Screw that, I’m going to pass it” Soooo I’m going to pass it…

This was my first attempt at FAR and I got a 72, not bad I guess. I am retaking it in the beginning of January, while it is still fresh in my mind. Can anyone give me advice on where/how to start? I can’t start from the beginning because I’m taking it in about 20 days. Should I go over weak areas and do MCQ, should I watch important lectures and read? Should I just review for the next 20 days.. lost.

Sorry to hear that! But yeah, you can't give up. Just think about all the time and money you've invested.
Anywho, I would advice you to do ms questions until you puke. My first time taking FAR, I failed with a 66. When I re-studied, I didnt bother with the lectures or even reading (except for govt because that just didnt make any sence to me). Other than that, I did a bunch of ms question and didn't really practice doing any sims since they are not representative of the actual exam.
You were so close so I think 20 day should be plenty. Good luck!

I've been lucky to only have to do one retake, but when I did my REG re-take I spent a couple of days going back over the NINJA notes and other notes for REG, and then I did MCQs for 4 weeks. If you only have 20 days, then I would quickly go over notes and do MCQs the rest of the time. As others have said, make sure you know your journal entries.

Right there with you Charlene 🙁 I felt really okay about my exam- not great but much better than I did after the first time I took it- the biggest kick in the gut for me was that I didn't even come close to doing better this time despite how I felt. Hang in there we WILL pass this thing!!!

and they ask me why I drink...

FAR- 61-next time I'll ask for lube instead of a calculator
REG-75- Never been so happy to see such a low grade
    BEC- 8/11
    AUD- 9/2

3 weeks is really quick for a retake sometimes.

    https://www.another71.com/how-to-pass-the-cpa-exam-in-20-days/

Here is the route Jeff suggests when you have the exam in 20 days.

Do you have the Ninja audio? When I did my FAR retake I listened to those notes probably a good 10x. I also listened to Government more than that (I hate governmental accounting). You don't want to just study your weakest areas, you need 75 more points, not 3. FAR is a beast of an exam, everyone has their own beast, but it is passable! You've passed 2 exams, and you were close on the 2 fails, you can do it! Take today to sulk, and then move on. That sounds harsh, but the more you dwell on it, the worse your studying will go.

    Good luck!

Hey, a 72 for your first try on FAR is not bad at all! I got a 55 my first time on FAR and came back for an 84!

What really helped me was going back over the book and hand-writing notes, focusing in on the trickier areas. I also wrote flash cards – never actually reviewed them, but the act of condensing a complex topic down into a couple short sentences helped a ton. Handwriting is really what makes things stick in my brain, though you may be different. Good luck!

Thank you everyone, I'm not giving up but I'm overwhelmed.

Rachel, that's funny cause I made flash cards and 3 giant poster boards and never actually went over the flash cards I made. I will continue to do the notes, mcq, and audio. I know I got this, I just have to take more time and do more MCQ, I admit I didn't do enough. I studied enough the 1st time around but didn't do enough MCQ.

I am taking FAR for the second time beginning of January, and BEC for my 3rd attempt end of January. I can dedicate 8 hours a day every day to studying, WHICH is why I will not fail again. I was being stupid before, I took too many breaks, went to the mall too much.. had too many late night dinners with friends. I will not do that. I allowed myself to have a social life and that just can't happen with this exam, so that is it. I don't have a job and I get 8 hours a day to study-every single day (including Sunday's).. I have no excuses and I don't blame these scores on anyone/anything, it was all me. I will pass both of them this time around. No more playing games!!!

@Charlene..sorry about your fail..Keep at it. You'll get it.

Do you go to U of M? I'm a grad student at the Dearborn campus if you need help with FAR.

    If you aren't then disregard.

I am at work and will not look at my score for FAR until I leave. I don't want to ruin my day here.

I definitely am getting nervous after reading how you felt leaving the test center. I too thought I did decent on MCQ's and finished all of the SIMs. I for sure got the research question and had a decent understanding on the rest of the SIMs.

I have passed the other 3 on the first try and had a similar feeling on AUD and BEC.

I still dont know how I passed REG. I got the research but had to make educated guesses on the other 6 sims.

Crossing fingers for a pass tonight.

    BEC - 79

You can do it! Don't give up. If you can score a 72 you can score a 75. Don't burn yourself out doing 8 hours a day though. Add in some exercise. It really helps!

@cessnapilot I feel like I understand where I went wrong, and I am going to focus on MCQ and jot down a lot of notes for anything I don't understand for the next 20 days and try again. Where I am really struggling though is BEC, did you take it? I didn't go to U of M, I traveled a lot during college times, so I went everywhere lol.. but I came back and I'm cold. :/

    @Garnerr2
How did you do?? I've been wondering to see if maybe feeling good after an exam isn't a curse?

Hi, Reg my last part . I took it in November 14 and failed with a 70%. I was weak in the simulation. I am taking the exam again January 9. I work for a Big 4 so I don't have a lot of time I'm making 100 multiple choice per day aprox. I have seen all the video, read all the materia and I'm still getting 60% to 70% in the MC. I don't know what more to do. English is my second language, but I don't think that the problem. I'm frustrated and stressed. Please help!!!!
