Failed Audit

I feel really bitter about it. I studied almost 4 weeks (which I felt was plenty of time), and ended up failing with a 72.

This one feels particularly bad because I felt like I put in the time, but for some reason still ended up failing. The thing with Audit is that I don’t even know where to begin studying again. Everybody says that if you’re within 5 points to hammer your weak areas and try again as soon as possible, but I don’t even know where my weak areas are. The subject itself is just way to vague.

To add to the suffering, I’m scheduled to take REG on 6/9, so I can’t just focus on AUD until the next window. I’m really kicking myself right now for not getting it the first time…

    AUD - 85
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 76
    REG - 77
    I. AM. DONE!

    FAR - (8/20) 70, (10/28) 72, (2/22) 76
    REG - (6/8) 69...
    BEC - (11/18) 77
    AUD - (4/14) 72...

    Dont feel bad.

Audit was the only test I passed the first time around… Due to work the 3 tests that I actually passed have all expired.

I recently took audit and ended up getting a 74. For the first time in taking a test I felt like I nailed it, it turns out I did nail the MCQ but ended up doing weaker in the SIMS.

As soon as you are done taking REG go back to audit, I suggest studying everything all over again but study your weak areas especially. You should get the stupid score sheet that will tell you what to focus on.

    Good Luck!

    AUD: 77
    REG: 86
    FAR: TBD
    BEC: 79 (Expired)

Maloney, I'm in the same boat, I just took BEC on 4/30, REG on 6/10, and FAR on 7/30. Just received my score of 68 and I really hoped I'd be done with studying so I can enjoy the summer. I studied AUD for about 6 weeks and used Gleim materials/audio and NINJA MCQ/SIMS. I completed about 1,1000 MCQs and 20 SIMS and was trending in the 80's so I was warily confident heading into my first exam.

I'm now thinking of taking a week or two after REG to brush up on AUD and retest. I know my weaker area was independence and I remember a few questions on that topic on my exam where I wished I'd known the material better. Other than that, I'm not sure where to refocus my attention. I'll reactivate my AUD MCQ and look at the report to see what topics I scored lowest in and work my way from there…

We'll get them the next time around!

    B - 81

    A - 80

    R - 75

    F - 83

I guess I'm glad I'm not in this boat alone. 71 here. REG scheduled for 6/6. Right now I'm thinking I'll stay focused on REG, then I'll go back to AUD and completely start over. Like you, I'm not really sure where my weak areas are…PLUS it's going to be a whole new test, so even if I did study weak areas they could ask me questions on topics I didn't refresh on and screw me again. Then there's the fact that in my head Audit is hard to break up into individual topics, it's all the same thing just focusing on different parts of the pictures (vs FAR where you have leases, accounts receivable, inventory…all separate from one another.)

On top of all that, ever since the test I've had TWO questions haunting me. I left the testing center and all of sudden the answer hit me. What if I had just answer those two correctly? I realize to get a 71 I answered others wrong, but maybe those two would've gotten me to that glorious 75! Oh well….it doesn't matter.

So what I'm really trying to say is….stupid audit.

It's just agonizing to only be a couple of points away. You put in all that time and effort only to be told you're not good enough to be a CPA yet. On top of that, they make you wait for weeks before finding out if you passed or not.

The more I continue on trying to study, the more I feel I'm just being scammed.
