I would look to see what the state in which you are applying for the license dictates as experience. In NYS the rule is part-time or full time experience under a CPA. Part time is defined as 20 hour minimum a week, or the week does not count.
I took a quick peek at what TN say (I am assuming you are licensing in TN based on your signature) and they say:
1. The experience required to be demonstrated for issuance of an initial certificate pursuant to T.C.A. §62-1-106(f) shall meet the following requirements:
2. Experience may consist of providing any type of services or advice using accounting, attest, management advisory, financial advisory, tax or consulting skills.
3. Acceptable experience shall include employment in industry, government, academia or public practice
4. No fewer than 2000 hours of experience (earned in no less than one year or more than three years). Experience must be earned within the ten (10) years immediately preceding the application for certification.
Based on that I do not see a requirement that the experience should be after a Bachelors degree, nor the same weekly limit as NYS. They do have a time limit of at least 1 year and no more than 3. SO if it took you 4 years to get 2000, I don't think it will work.
I am adding the link to TN website on CPA licensing where i found the information. I would look it over. You can also call the state board and ask them your question with the specifics of your situation. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
