    After getting a 74 I know I am close…. I am planning on skipping the videos and taking notes on all chapters and then doing ninja mcq. Does this sound good? Also for those of you that received a” stronger” on the WC how did you approach it? I felt I knew all 3 topics very well and I know I am a very good writer so this confirms my suspicions about the AICPA.

    I recommend going page by page in your book and taking detailed notes while working the problems. Naturally you should memorize a majority of the formulas as well as how to use them.

    Writing section is a hit or miss — in your case aim for the hit (duh). Leave yourself an ample amount of time to formulate your thoughts and click away.

    BEC is a tricky one but aim for full points on the writing and you should be good.

    @Joe C. –

    I just posted this in another thread, but here it is again in case you didn't see it:

    While this format will not produce the most intriguing essays, it will capture everything you need for the computer scoring program. Be sure to use correct grammar, spelling, and syntax. This is VERY important. Memorize your intro and conclusion. When you get to the WCs, write out your intro and conclusion first, then go back and write the body.

    I used something like this and scored “stronger” (according to my diagnostic report) on my WCs:

    Dear [insert name], (note that a salutation is only necessary if the WC is formatted as a letter instead of a memo)

    Thank you for allowing me to assist with your inquiry regarding [restate the question]. When analyzing [Subject matter to be discussed], we must consider

      Each topic should be its own paragraph. Begin each paragraph by giving a definition of each topic.

      In conclusion, I recommend [summarize your findings above, preferably using more buzz words].

      I appreciate the opportunity to assist you. Should you have any more questions as you review [subject matter] in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.

      Best regards,

      [your name]

      @ABTX411
      Thank you for posting this example. I am taking BEC on Friday. I'm not too worried about my writing skills, but I am worried about what to do if I'm not well versed on the subject matter. I've read the information doesn't have to be correct. Any recommendations on how to approach something if you really don't know what you're talking about?

      @CJC14

      I had absoutely NO CLUE what I was talking about on one of my essays. I knew I had heard of the subject matter before, but I couldn't remember exactly what it related to. So I decided to choose a topic that I thought could possibly relate and pulled as many buzz words out of my @ss as I possibly could. I made sure that all of these words were at least remotely relevant, and I was sure to do my best to define the topics and recommendations to the best of my ability.

      I quickly skimmed through each of the prompts before I started answering any of them, and I saved this one for last since I knew I would be able to perform better on the other 2. The key is to remember that a computer is grading this for grammar, syntax, and spelling, and is looking for a few very specific words. If you're a good writer, you should be able to regurgitate enough relevant information to at least get some credit even if you have no clue what you're talking about. đŸ™‚

      ABTX thanks much! I think I wrote too well without enough of the buzzwords to be recognized by the dumb computer grader.
