Another 62?!

I took FAR in Q1 and AUD in Q2. I got 62 on both and used Roger (which I’m not wild about.) Maybe time for Ninja for the retakes??
I think my issue was studying too much on stuff not tested very much and not enough on the stuff (usually easier stuff) that gets tested a lot…I’ve had that issue with many tests I’ve taken in the past. I just took BEC last week, so now I’m on to REG.

Congrats to everyone who passed their last one in Q2 on the new exam format!

Well look who's here….crazyleon. Welcome to the retake club. I think Ninja will be a great study tool to use with Roger. Just take a deep breathe, think of a new strategy, and jump right in. We're (ninja's ) here to help, and we need your help to pass as well.

I think you have a good attitude but don't worry about studying the wrong stuff. Everything, for the most part, should come full circle in some way. If it doesn't that is the stuff that isn't important.

For me the stuff I don't focus on is the stuff that Tim gearty (Becker) tries to explain that makes zero sense, and you can feel that he knows it.

I like to watch the videos, take multiple choice, and read the problems I miss. There's too much info to dilly-dally. Just work efficiently and understand what is the true point that the study materials are trying to convey. For example, every set of multiple choice questions for each section seems to have about 5-6 different topics that are just asked in different ways. Just understand what they are looking for.

Yeah I'm scoping out options for retakes right now. I just don't want to buy another full review course. I think I need Ninja because it seems to break everything down to the most important stuff that gets tested. I think Roger and Gleim did not work well for me, too much extraneous stuff. I am currently on a study vacation until about September 10th, to let my brain cells cool down before starting on REG. I just took BEC, and have been at this for 13 months now, nonstop.

@OSU2017 – your strategy is probably good for people who have Becker, which I don't. But, I understand where you're going with it. I need the most work on MCQs. They have plagued me all of my life practically – I always fall into trap wrong answers. That's the reason why I didn't pass FAR and AUD. I found myself guessing on a good number of them because I couldn't weed out all the wrong answers and end up picking one. What I did during my studies of FAR and AUD was take notes on the MCQ as I did them. It worked, I think…to an extent. I felt that I learned by doing that. But, I think my study time in the past has been too focused on videos and not enough on the stuff that really gets a lot of testing.

When I took FAR, I saw that a lot of the things that were on the exam were areas that I tended to neglect as well. What helped though was writing down Ninja notes and reviewing my personal notes. If you tend to get tricky questions wrong, it might mean that you understand the basic concept but you need to practice a little more through MCQs and especially SIMs. I feel like the practice SIMs tie together all the information in a way that MCQs couldn't. I focused more on SIMs and writing notes than I did for MCQs and passed FAR and AUD in Q2 and Q3.

    AUD - 86
    BEC - 95
    FAR - 87
    REG - 77

@jc1103 – which review course did you use, or did you only use Ninja? Congrats on passing your first two.

I used Roger/Ninja MCQ for every section. Everyone is different on how they learn, but I found making notecards to be a lifesaver for me. I didn't bother looking at Sims besides some research ones to get a feel for how they were formatted and just did MCQ's nonstop.

    CrazyLeon,

I have Roger and CPA Excel from Wiley. Roger books and lecutres are very watered down. Great for people right of school, but for people like me 10 years out of school I need all the detail I can get. Wiley is great for that. Roger MCQs are a joke very easy compared to exam. Wiley has challenging MCQs. Also Roger is a bit obnoxious at times during the lectures. Its almost a waste to listen to lectures.

Not to be jerky- but a 62 indicates a big hole in your knowledge the material. I got a 64 on AUD on my first try and knew going in there was a lot of holes.

Ninja MCQs are definitely most bang for your buck although even better is cpareviewforfree.com.
