I'm 30 and will be sitting for my first section in November (the day after I turn 31 actually). I have worked in industry in tax since graduating with my undergrad degree at 22 (and while getting my masters in tax). So a husband and two kids later I'm finally taking the leap.

I thought I had waited WAAAY longer than most people but I don't feel so bad now that I see that there are others my age that did the same.

I was eligible to sit for the exam when I was 29. However, I'm really immature and had “Ninja warrior” life obstacles. Presently, I'm still immature but life problems can be described as “Double Dare-esque”. Super props and daps to all the young-bloods making life decisions so early. random but I wish there was a chick-fil-a near me. I don't agree with the company's socio political views, but the chicken is so tender and juicy. literally melting in your mouth, sending euphoric transmissions from taste bud to neurotransmitters. Then you can change the flavor and texture experience by having a wonderfully crisp waffle fry. the very definition of delicious; so hungry. and the variety of sauces. its like a sauce smorgasbord.

CPA50, what has been your experience in becoming employed at your age? I'm almost 49 and if all goes well I'll pass by 51.
    Thanks for any comments.

Kesto, Would be curious to know how recruiters have reacted to your age. I know they don't have the right to discriminate, but in the real world, I wonder what your experience has been. I would think if one can do the job, then there shouldn't be a problem. Also, did you try getting hired at local or mid-tier firms or in industry, or did you also apply to the big4 (which I'm told is no picnic.) Thanks for any comments you might have about employability at this age.

Wow, This is an old post. and I still have not passed yet 🙁 So much has happened since I started my journey and I dare not tell my husband how much money I have spent on tests and study materials. Well the question was what is the average age of test takers? The answer is probably early 30's -mid 40's. As for us old timers I think it's for gp. Shear honor and pride if I pass at 53.

    It begins with a 75

Tncincy, I'm rooting for you. Age is just a number and you apparently have tons of patience! 🙂
