ala72ParticipantI'm 23, just finished MAcc this past May.
I wanted these exams done and out of the way, even though this cert might not be something that I use in the future, because I never wanted to have to sacrifice time with future husband/ children.
I might not even stay in public but I figured that this certification could lead to more opportunities and provide more flexibility in the future.

Tax ladyParticipantI'm 36 and also agree with Mama. I am married, two kids, work full time in public accounting, have a side business doing taxes/bookkeeping and if I can pass these tests with all this going on, then I feel like I could truly do anything! It's definitely not the ideal situation, but I know it's do-able. π

TncincyParticipant@NoraU, I am 49. I have been trying for almost 2 years and have not passed a part yet. I commend you for jumping in at 53.
@Mammabear, are you back in reg? or still on break. I am going for Reg mid Oct and Far end of November. I am really inspired by your energy press and never give up attitude.
Tax is my strength (17 years) so I am changing my plans and going with reg first …..even though so many recommended Far first, but Far is so overwhelming to me. I need to start somewhere else. just need to…..
Good luck to my peers ( 40 and over club)

AnonymousInactiveHi to all in the over 40 club, I am 46 and am taking Reg in Nov. I changed careers at 42 and have never looked back. I will not stop until I pass all four exams and at my age what do I have to do but study LOL. I have three older kids and a wife and I commend anyone at any age who passed this exam. Age is only a number.!

Forte FreezeMemberGood to read these posts, as I too am over 40 !
Worked a variety of accounting jobs outside of public.
Having 25 years pass so quickly since my college degree, it's a real trip to rekindle this information!

KestoMemberI am a kind of surprised and glad to see many 40+. I thought I was one of the very few in the 40 club. I am 42 and just passed the 4th section. I completed the whole exam in seven month (FAR 85, AUD 92, REG 88, BEC 84). I earned my Bachelors degree 20 years ago and my Masters 10 years ago. At 42, I am making a career change and trying to land my first ever job in USA.

TncincyParticipantCongrats Kesto, Keep cheering for the rest of us old timers. When we pass, I am sure I will welcome the change.

MamabearMember@Tax Lady–It will be good to study together again! I won't be on as much this time though. I easily distracted myself with this forum. I am not making that mistake this time. I'm out for blood with REG!
@tncincy–I'm still on break. Leaving on Saturday for a cruise. I'll be back for good in 2 weeks. I have to get this done. I will see you in the Q4 group as well. I say go with your strong suit, don't go into it too confident though. Still study everything. Nail it, then tackle FAR. You have a good plan!
